PAS Steering Pump

Morning all,

After a bit of hunting around the Tam's engine bay, testing wires etc... It appears my PAS failure is down to the steering pump itself rather than the relay or fuses.

Does anyone know where the steering pump part is originally from (e.g. Citroen or Peugeot)? It appears to be an all in one unit of pump and reservoir and the only one I can find is from Racing Green at 480 notes!

I have seen it posted somewhere on here, I will have a think but I seem to remember it was of french origin. How about one from a scrapper that deals with splatted TVR's eg Douglas Valley. Clever Trevor sell them for £410 last time I looked so £480 is a bit cheaky!

You could try Bell Hill near Bath. They are TVR brakers so sould have one in stock.

I lost my power steering last year, it was the rack which was leaking badly. The seals had gone,caused by water ingress and the internals were shot. Had a total refurbed rack job. about £500.

Try an ebay search for Citroen Saxo steering pump,BBA Reman ebay shop offer full recon pumps current buy it now price of £175. PSA part same on some pugeot 106. Much cheaper than main TVR dealerships

Steering racks fully reconditioned by car parts direct cost £250 which includes the courier collection and delivery. Just received mine back, fiddly time consuming job but not difficult.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the EHPAS pump is common to Peugeot or Citroen. It's certainly manufactured by the same supplier, but I believe to a different spec in terms of flowrate or pressure.

If you do fit the Citroen one, you may find the feel or performance of the steering somewhat comprimised.

had to get one for mine got it from bell hill in the end, about 300 quid i think and got RG to fit

Looks like I'm going to get this done at RG when she has her service + MOT next month.

I spoke to Martin and they've got refurb ones for 280 or so.

Just got to work out how to get her over there. I always swore I wouldn't let her end up on the back of a rescue lorry but it looks like I might have no other option. Mr AA might have to come to the rescue
