Is this the most stupid problem yet?!

ok, the bonnet release doesn't work anymore on my T350!

it's like the cable has come loose or something?

So i'm currently 'locked out' of the engine bay...

Any ideas?!

Mine was a little sticky last week, but you can get to the catch with a srewdriver. Pull the cable as normal and leave it in open position, then a little help with the screwdriver and a tug on the bonnet sorted mine out.
Bit of grease & works fine now.

mine went too .. the cable stretches for some reason .. easy to change or just poke a screwdriver at it under the bonnet

oh mate, I feel guilty now for us trying to get a second look at your throttle bodies....

at least it stops me worrying about the coolant level for a while!!

i didnt think anymore of it until i got back and was going to check the oil... will get on it with a screwdriver or two tomorrow.

Not a stupid problem at all (at least, I'm defending it happening to me too!). I messed around for an hour adjusting the catch on mine, not understanding why it functioned differently every time, until I realized what the problem was in my instance.

Looking at the release lever under the steering column, the cable outer should be trapped behind a retaining C-clip. If it isn't, you're pulling both inner and outer and just releasing the slack on it. Pull the cable outer back so it's behind the C-clip (and perhaps reduce the diameter of the C while you're at it). Quick fix is to pull down firmly on the cable outer while pulling the release lever.

Thanks for the tip jrb43, i got it opened in the end, but pulling on the cable from under the dash -popped it up. Looks like it is pulling on the whole cable, so need to sort the inner part.
