Armour Fend - repairable

Coming back to London this afternoon and what can only be described as a golf-ball sized UFO hit the front of the car, made a bit of a bang. When checked, it actually hit the armour-fend but has broken through it and split the plastic, so there is now a half cm square flap of plastic in the armour. I have pushed it back down but it is visible - is this stuff repairable or will it need a new front end refit?
Seems to have done the job though, i have no idea what sort of damage it would have done if it had hit the bodywork.

unfortunately, i don't believe it can be repaired.
i bought my car with a gauge about 2 inches long on the nose of my car where the armourfend is. i've had 2 garages look at it when it was in for other work, and the opionion is there's nothing that can be done.
i've been waiting for the rest of the nose to get to a state where i can justify the expense of a respray. i'm just about there now.
the question is, do i get it armourfended after the respray?

Is it armour fend or paint shield? If it's Armour fend you may experience paint removal with the plastic (if you intend to replace it). If it's paintshield, it should have a 4 year warranty. Removal and replacement will not cause paint damage.Seems to have done the job though, i have no idea what sort of damage it would have done if it had hit the bodywork.

Too early on a Monday for that kind of thing.
you should have no problem getting either off and you should not remove the paint. The only cars that may have problems are the origonal line of Sagaris that when and had the fron painteshielded when the paint had not fully cured.
You just need to use the right technique to get it off, hot water or hairdryer should do the job.

Seconded - I can't speak for paintshield, but when I was negotiating the purchase of my T350 one of the things that I wanted sorting was the armourfend around the fuel filler as it was discoloured from petrol spillages (surely not!).You just need to use the right technique to get it off, hot water or hairdryer should do the job.
The guys at Trimar seemingly had no problems at all with replacing it so it must be possible to remove without damage...

Armour fend can amd has removed paint - even when done professionally. Same product when fitted invalidated TVR warranty on paintwork.You just need to use the right technique to get it off, hot water or hairdryer should do the job.
I guess that it all depends on the quality of the initial pre-paint prep and the length of time allowed for curing before said product was applied - so no guarantees...
Anyway Matt, I'm sure any reputable garage will make mention of the possible risks when assessing the job and either say 'it's your decision / your liability' or price the job accordingly.
