12k Service and Engine mounts

Afternoon guys

Just a quick few questions. Having my engine mounts done and wondered how much it is going to cost so i won't be shocked later!

Also are having the valves done part of the standard 12k service?

Having the valves checked is part of the service but if adjustment is required it's usually extra couple of hours labour.

Engine mounts are a pain of a job. Could be getting on for an hour to do one. Actual part isn't much, but the rubber is prone the deteriorating (or melting )

Tappets are always checked as part of a 12k service.

I've just been quoted £115 for a single engine mount if that's any help to you...

There are some new mounts coming out soon made with a different composition which should last a lot longer, I have some on order and hope that this will be the last time they'll need changing for a long time, the present ones have only been on 9 months

needed my valves adjusting so that and changing engine mounts came to about £600. didn't think too bad?

Speaking of enigine mounts, Im just about to do mine on my T350. By looking at threads on here they sound like they go quite frequent. So where do you get theses new ones from that are supposed to last a lot longer?

Ps, while Im here my T350 has just failed its MOT on emmissions and a leaky shock. The emissions are reading 7.92!!! Are the lambda sensors prone to go on these to get such a reading? The exhaust is standard with 26,000 miles so shouldnt be the cat.

Also I need to replace my shocker. But I have read on this forum that the standard ones arent very good due to being too firm and making the car very unstable at high speeds. Well thats what my car is like, so what suspension would yous recomend to put on to make my car handle better and be more of an ease to drive?

Advice would be much appreciated.

Engine mounts are a fairly common fault, i haven't heard of any new longer lastinig ones but you could put some heat shield around them.

Was the engine fully up to temp before the emissions test? this would help, i'm not sure about the lambda's.

I've had Nitrons fitted and they totally transformed the car, mine was handling pretty much the same as you describe and after the new shocks you have a lot more confidence in the car.
