speedo fault

Hi all

Slight problem with the speedo wonder if anybody can help.

Every so often it goes a bit mental and sticks. By this I mean when you switch the ignition on and the needles sweep the speedo needle only judders a short distance and ends up past (before) zero at rest, I also get a 'speedo zero fault' (code 20 or 21 forgot which) sometimes it goes away on its own but today it seemed to coincide with messing with the speedo pod (trying to remove the bezel)and it now works fine.

From experience does it sound like its on its way out or more likely a loose connection? I can see a ribon cable between the two dials that pugs in at the back of the pod. Before I go messing about with it.... how do you remove the pod to check? There are two screws one in each bottom corner behind the bezel is it these I need to remove.

There's a sensor in the dash that is used to know where the position of the needle is.. more than likely this has stopped working (I beleive it get tripped when the needle is at maximum level - aka 200mph)
