Noisey Top End

[V8 Animal]

Went to see a tam 3.6 today to buy car looks great and drives ok but the engine is noisey.
As i have a V8 i don't know if this is normal for a speed 6 engine.
The last service was 2 years ago but it has only covered 4k miles after that.
Any one in derby/notts with the same engine i could listen too i like the car and wish to buy it but need help on this.
What i do know is that the engines need there tappets adjusted regualy and i hope that's all it is.

Hi Paul which one did you go see?

Mine was quite rattley till I had the tappets done.
They will still sound rattley it's the speed six way.

Perhaps get the car inspected by someone in the know before buying? They can sound a little tappy to the uninitiated, but the noise is not too loud. Can be noisier if the tappets need doing.

Also, earlier engines were quite rattly and knocky when cold. Much quieter when warm.

ompared to a v8 they all sound like sewing machines .. especially when you take the roof off .... very tappity (if thats a word) sounding cars ... I've had 4 and knitted & drop stitched many happy miles in them all .... and wow my next reply is my 1000th ... how exciting .. I may have a beer and leave work early today
