Evening all, just wondering the general concensus on why the ex-TVR blue Sagaris PN05 OUX hasnt sold recently despite being advertised by Sebring for a number of months now??

http://www.sebringinternational.co.uk/pre-owned_tv...

I am sure the car was advertised for less than £30k in 2008 and now Sebring have it advertised at £33995 which seems extortionate compared to what all the other Sag's are going for these days.

There is obviously the added combination of the fact that there is no official service history with the car (apparently) but I was told by Sebring that this have never existed and is not the fact that it has just been lost, as TVR just kept the car in top-notch condition for the journalists and test-drivers (like The Stig).

Thoughts welcome please...

I've had a look around the car a couple of times when I've been up there getting mine serviced etc. It looks very nice and certainly sounds good when I've seen it out. It's not mint but certainly isn't tatty. Why don't you pop along and take a look for yourself?

maybe people think its had a hard life as a test car ...that would be my first thoughts......its not as if journos are easy on them, plenty of track time, and it will have done lots of 0-60 and 0-100 runs LOL

so its a hard life car, no history other than what theyve done to it...I presume they are putting 12 months on it

.. but a quite a few other mint low milers for sale - at least 3 or 4 new owners recently have overlooked it for whatever reasons.....

I personally wouldn't go near it! Its been used by too many journo's car mags etc, I also have a dvd of it being driven across europe by a couple of young guys on a touring holiday! Im sure it has been well serviced and maintained, but it would just make me very nervous indeed knowing its past! Have you seen the purple 1 lady owner sag/ the special sag and the tangoed car, now your talking.

I would still be going for the tango'd car, then the special sag, out of the ones for sale currently....

Fairly sure Mr Blue was owned by a member here, and there have been discussions about it before... worth getting in touch with the man?

There will be nothing wrong with MR Blue. I drove Mr Orange last week and it is owned by a mate of mine and has done 35K miles. It pulls great and runs fine, the engine according to racing green would have been built a lot more carefully than a standard S6 and probually upgraded parts.

Thanks for the comments and I have to admit I agree, the car probably has upgraded parts etc... But will have had a hard life and that puts me off, especially for the current asking price.

Now that the lovely spectraflair 06 one is for sale there is simply no contest and shows that Sebring are living in cuckoo land. I would pop down for a look but i'm in Leeds so its hardly close if its a dog of a car, and their trade in price on my T350 will be laughable I guess against it.

To my truly great disappointment I didn't sign on the line for Mr Blue yesterday having spent most of the day at Sebring's. There were just too many bits and bobs that needed sorting for me to feel confident in the car as a long term prospect. My search continues for a dealer car, with a warranty, and using my Ducati as a part ex.

Mr Blue was one of mine. Along with:-

Last Cerbera - PO56HRC
TVR Press Tuscan 3.6 - PJ54WNG (on top gear)
BO55 SAG Sagaris
T350C - RX04DPE
Tamora - WP02ZPZ
4.0 Red Rose Tuscan - X... something or other
etc, etc

So I'm fairly well clued up on what's what when it comes to TVR's.

Look, some people love ex-TVR press cars (like me) and others hate them. The facts are: the car will have been used and abused by more people you can shake a stick at, but, it will have all the best modifications made to it, it will have had no expense spared on maintenance and when it was built it will have been given a bit more care and attention than most TVR's. I know for a fact that it has had at least two engine rebuilds whilst in TVR's care.

PN05OUX is probably one of the fastest Sagaris' in the country. When I got it, the engine had been out of the car for over 6 months, stood outside on a pallet at Ricardo (yes they used this actual engine for evaluation purposes). Quite what Ricardo did (if anything) is anyone's guess, all that I will say is that as soon as it went back in the engine bay and was connected up, it fired straight up into life and idled smoother than any other S6 engine I have ever experienced.

The car had a few more rattles than my other newer Sag (I put it down to suspension bushes being a bit worn), however, the newer Sag, in fact any other Sag that I have driven is nowhere near as quick. Mr Blue had a slight issue on engaging 5th gear. When I say issue, it was never a big problem, but 5th gear just didn't feel as precise as all the other TVR's I've had.

To digress slightly, the ex-press 3.6 Tuscan that I had was like an absolute rocket compared to my previous 4.0 Red Rose, so that should tell you all you need to know about the press cars.

If anyone wants more info, let me know.

Good informed comment that might just bring that advert back to life. Are the buyers still there or has the spring surge finished?

ours was for sale for 3 weeks ish

10 enquiries and 2 of them were genuine, rather than scams

If I could offer p/x, finance and a warranty im sure It would have sold to the first enquiry, as of course most people want to buy a cheap Sagaris, but with all the dealer facilities

Next time I shant even bother trying to sell an expensive sportscar privately, I think a lot has to be said for sale or return these days as you can get a private price, with dealer facilities smile

It is good to get the full story about Mr Blue and I have to say that being an ex press car doesnt bother me too much, but if im changing from my sorted 54 reg T350C I want to know that the Sag is a good one.

Unfortunately I still dont think its competitively priced compared to all the others for sale at the moment.

I'm fairly sure it sold privately last year for £27k and its now up for £34k and according to Sebring has only had £2k spent on it.

Just offer them what you want to pay, the worst they can do is say no sorry! If you want it try and negotiate, you might just get the result you want. I got £4500 of the asking price through hard negotiations of my Tamora.

Exactly, it's up for 34k but that doesn't mean you can't offer less. Personally I'd be looking to buy for 31-32k.
Also consider it'll have a warranty as well as full dealer check over and service. Why not call them and ask to speak with their mechanic Matt rather than the sales guy? Matt looks after my cars and is fastidious in his detail as well as being very honest. I'm sure he'll give you a good idea of what the car is like!

Sorry to hear of the hassles trying to sell. 30k is a lot of money for a private purchase, you just need to bide your time. I posted a while ago about Sagaris' possibly being a big pricey and not many selling - the majority of the ones up then are still for sale now. Fine if the owners can afford to wait. IMO yours is priced competitively btw.

I sold my Chimaera within days on PH for a very good price, then my T350 went sooner than I expected (in January!). I never had any timewasters or tyrekickers - even the email 'expressions of interest' appeared honest 'hunters'. I had no scammers contact me either - but I only advertised through PH - not Ebay or Autotrader.
