Digital Display Intermittent Backlight

Hi all,
Quick query regarding the digital display on the dashpod as it has developed an intermittent fault whereby the backlight to the dsiplay sometimes does not work and it is extremely difficult to read the display. All the info is there and is 100% but it loses the green backlight and you can vaguely make out the grey letters/numbers and that is it.
Sometimes it is like this on startup and then kicks into action after a little while, but then on other occasions it does the opposite where it starts fine and then goes off. Could it be just a loose connection?
The whole dashpod was repaired by Cath last year which now seems strange to develop such an intermittent fault.
Any ideas?

Had same issue in Sagaris last year. Went to the trouble of taking entire pod out of car and soldering in new LCD panel - made no difference, backlit display still off.
What did cure it (touch wood) was to disconnect the ribbon cable that the dash plugs into in the drivers footwell. No idea how this cured it but it did, even although all cables disconnected when pod removed from car!
