If the terrible happens and you need a new engine/rebuild, would you go for an FFF or a Power/standard rebuild? - and why?

i know there's a huge thread for each one in the 'Speed 6' section, but it's more discussion on the different engines.

Personally i'm not fully decided, the FFF is considerably more expensive and you may almost get 2 standard rebuilds for the same price, so that might influence my decision.

Not decided but I don`t seem the reason behind getting it rebuild to the same spec as standard (with obvious oil mods, etc.)

If your spending £5k on a rebuild that should be guaranteed for 3 to 5 years I would be looking at either 4.3 or FFF..

I hope my rebuild is long enough away for all those rebuild engines to get some decent miles on them biggrin

You'll get neither for 5k

9k for a 4.3.... add the scavenger pump filters (and maybe the FFF head) from RG.... and then the supercharger - £15k total?

I'd rather an LS6 / LS7 lump for less money than that...

i think power's rebuild (guaranteed for 3 years) is £6.2K, i think the FFF will be pushing 10K or maybe a bit more... like you say, hopefully neither needed for a while...

Power - no contest IMO.

Dom is one of only 3 people I trust to do any work on Candy & Daisy of any significance.

What kind of money are we looking at for the finished product and who does the work?

I have heard 12K for the conversion. Topcat racing are the people for the job.
the LS is the best option around the 10K mark, and more HP than a supercharged S6.

That's pretty pricey! Don't know why, but I've always thought of something like an M3 CSL engine suiting the character of a T350 beautifully...

One can dream I guess!

I'm sort of with Wheeler on a BMW engine in the T-cars, it just isn't right. If I had to switch engines, a big Yank V8 would at least offer some confidence, though I'd see it as a shame to drop the six.

If the worst happened right now it would have to be Dom. Others are gaining a good reputation, but they don't have the miles yet. Or the warranty, and at these prices a bit of reassurance should be 'part of it'.

No not quite...

I'm doing Cerbera LS conversions for around the £7k + vat including a brand new L98 (LS2 with LS3 heads as fitted to the latest Vauxhall V8XRi). You get to keep the old engine so that can be sold to offset some of the cost. The conversion is based on what I did on my Cerbera which has been running now for almost 2 years. Currently finishing off a AJP Cerb - waiting for a 3.08 diff - and starting a Cerbera Speed Six and then I have a T350 booked in for later this summer. The plan is to get the Speed Six specific stuff sorted with the Cerbera Speed Six and then to work with a T350C owner to do the conversion for that car. With that out of the way, we should be able to do any T car.

Power starts at around 425-450 ish level... with similar level of torque. Cam change can give another 50 bhp if needed.

Had a rebuild at Power in the summer of 2007 at 60,000miles. Since then we've done another 47,000 including a number of trackdays. Is that a reassuring amount of miles for anyone?
