T350/Sag Harness Bars

If 10 or more people will commit to purchasing, Graham Varley has suggested it may be viable to produce harness bars as detailed in his manual at an approximate cost of £50. If anyone is interested please add their names to this post. Please hurry as I want mine soon :

Have a look here http://www.varleyhyd.com/FJ062.asp. It mounts on the other side of the rollcage tube to the standard shoulder belt mount.

I fitted mine yesterday, need to do some work on the harnesses them selves - ajusting etc but it looks pretty good.

Are you using standard Sag/T350 type seats as opposed to Tuscan type?

Oops, just spotted they are Tuscan type.

Ian,
Can't fit harnesses with the proper Sag seats (as in our T350 )

The harness has to go around the top part of the seat and then doesn't fit on your shoulders.

Thanks John, had intended getting a Cobra seat possibly just the driver's and trimmed to match.

Thanks John, had intended getting a Cobra seat possibly just the driver's and trimmed to match.

Good choice, but worth reminding Cobra they needed to trim back the front seat corner nearest to transmission tunnel before fitting the cover (and check the hole alignment in the fitting brackets, as I has to re-drill mine, the first ones they did).

On the assumption that the chassis roll hoop is exactly the same for the T350, Sagaris and Tuscan, I'll definitely have one for my mk1 Tuscan.

I've mailed Graham - he will measure up

I'm thinking (Tuscan wise) to mount where top seat belt anchor goes? Gives minimal hassle and means either a dual install (belts and harness) or revert-able at a later stage if needed?

I'm wondering though.....

Would have thought that with 38 x 3 it should be strong enough for the job. Graham does caution that it is not an MSA approved fixing, hence the reason for keeping the originals in situ as well as versatility. They can also be supplied with a colour choice for £10-£15 extra.

Hi Will, I had not forgotten the topic but have been away on business and will be for a couple of months. Grahams solution is very affordable. An engineers report might be needed to get through MOT. I had hoped to use the existing seats and am disappointed that the harnesses will not catch shoulders. I do not want to change the seats so maybe I am stuck.

That looks almost identical to what I described in the other thread (wherever it was) to much criticism by others.

Edit: Oh, maybe not. I just found a pic of the one I described and it is quite a bit different. As you were.

MOT won't be a problem if the original belts are left in situ. Standard seats just aren't good enough for track use unfortunately.
