New clutch??

Morning all, hope you all enjoyed a good weekend or driving in the sun!!

I'm having trouble selecting reverse which has got worse over the last few weeks and yesterday first was starting to play up to. Does sound like the clutch? I've only had the car a month or 2 but its only done 6,500 miles thought that would be a little early for clutch, but may be not? If so any recommendation for best place to get it done in London / South East as I'm guessing the clutch wont be under the warranty...

New clutch time!

Exactly the same problems as I had before I got the clutch replaced, it wasn`t a worn clutch as such but some other part it.. it make enganging 1st hard when at a stand still and reverse crunch!

There's a small stopper behind the clutch pedal that stops it going to the floor, you can remove that to give yourself a few 100 miles (if its present..)

could also be the slave cylinder which is what happened to mine. had the same symptoms as you. Luckily, this is covered by warranty

The same thing happens to mine and has done for a few months now. I have only done 8000 miles.
I was advised that the clutch and gears detaeriorate if the car isnt used that often and I must admit it feels a lot better the day after a long drive. Pumping the clutch also seems to help - especially before trying to engage reverse from cold.

I had the option of replacing the slave cylinder but the part looked like new when inspected (no marks, etc.) so just a new clutch and its going fine since that..

Try bleeding the clutch & adjusting the rod on the master cylinder,
Mine was playing up but the clutch was recently done the garage did the above & now it's perfect

Thanks guys, big help as ever making a newbie tvr owner a lot more at ease and a lot happier!! not that you can ever be sad long with these cars!!

Personnaly i think some of the dealers milk these problems and recommend replacing the clutch and master cylinder when perhaps adjustment or only one of the parts is damaged, i had to do three clutches over 20k miles, only once did the car make a terrible noise and loose all gears. The other two were just at service times when they 'found' problems.

Care to tell us where you had it serviced?
