T350 windscreen corrosion?

Having washed my car yesterday, I noticed the vertical rubbers either side of the windscreen felt/sounded a bit odd. Carefully lifting the leading edge of both rubbers revealed broken bits of rusted metal I thought water is obviously getting in and has rotted the A pillars. Second throught was that this couldn't be the case as the pillars must be f-glass! This leaves me with the (more reassuring) conclusion that the windsreen must have metal edges, which have corroded. My guess is this would be cured and be good as new if I have the windsreen changed.

Can anyone confirm this? Or, has anyone had a similar problem?

Im about to replace my screen as broken in one corner and milky in both.
I also have rust lines running down both door pillers.
When the screen comes out i will have a look for metal.

There is metal in there - rust in the screen pilars (open the doors and look to where the screen joins the body) was on my snag list when I picked up my car from new!

No,
It's water trapped in the lamination which effects the black paint turning it white.
Bad drainage and seals not sealing properley.
All models seem to suffer.

Had this as well.Nearly died of fright when I saw it.I had visions of the windscreen frame mouldering away to nothing. It was not structural and Trimar cleaned it up and resprayed it when I had a new windscreen put in.

From the horses - gerbils, actually - mouth. The offending part is a metal trim/strip/deflector that is separate from and slots behind the windscreen and onto which the rubbers are mounted. The OE part should be/is galvanised. Clearly, judging by others' experiences on here, this wasn't always the case.

The cure is windscreen out and replace the metal surround with stainless. Thus, not a straightforward job - apparantly the 'screen usually breaks on the way out, too! Hence, as mine is not actually leaking, silicon will be the diy order of the day for now.

Took a snap of the offending piece today.

The fitters wern't going to hang around for me to get 2 made up so just painted it.
They had a game on took them 3 hours 2 men.
As said its a fillet for the upright gaskets to push into.
