What petrol do people use?

Morning all

Just wondering if there was a preferred petrol supplier that people here used? I tend to use Vpower as the previous owner did but wondered if anyone else had some ideas as to what is best to keep the tiv happy?

VPower is the preferred tipple.

TBH, a lot of the reason is just innertia - I've used to local Shell garage long enough to trust that they aren't going to skim my card.

i used to stick the standard unleaded in, but then after reading a similar thread started using the high octane stuff, don't really have a preference, but find myself in Shell, BP & Texaco most of the time...

anything 97 or more ...your cars computer dosent care what garage it came from ...and most of the garages all have the same regional supplier anyway ....lots of marketing and bull around where fuel is concerned

Just cheepo Shell 95 RON in my Sag.

I have tried the higher octane V-Power 98 / 99 RON, but don't notice any difference in peformance whatsoever, although it does pop and bang more on the overrun with the expensive fuel.

Let me tell you all fuel is NOT the same I have had a petrol station for 25 years and all fuel is not the same! Why ? because of the diffrent additves which are put into the tankers when filled depending on who's brand. Tescos fuel is known in the trade to have way too much bioethanol(the law of the land at the minute is all fuel supplied has to be made up of 5% bioethanol tescos is 10%) in it which results in filter clogging up in the petrol/diesel pumps and cars, the engineers who look after my pumps are always kept busy cleaning supermarket filters. Its up to you at the end of the day!

Exactly what I found in our Sag and in the brides Tamora. If the car is set up correctly, it should run on 95. If it doesn't (other than extreme hot weather) then it needs sorting.

Agree. A little more (in the form of a good octane booster) for track is good insurance - especialy if you're using it hard.

I took your advice Chris and I now avoid Tesco's and stick with the other high octaine stuff (V Power etc). I have to say the motor now runs much better, much cleaner and quicker on uptake. Pops and bangs much more also.

I use the normal Shell 95,in the Tamora with no problems,once a month I give her a treat with a tank of V power.
