Sagaris V Exige???
Discussion
Hello mate,
I am in the same boat as you thinking of selling my S2 Elise and getting either a PP 240 Exige or Sagaris, I posted the same question as you a few weeks ago.

Sag is much easier as the engine is up front, and it has a lot more power
the Exige has engine in the middle and less power + sticky rubber = power slides are more difficult and tricky to hold
for hooning about Id get a Sag for sure...but really they are different cars#
if you are a trackday nutter I would get an Exige, as it will do a trackday every weekend, take you to work all week and not bat an eyelid...and be cheap to run
A Sag is a much more expensive proposition as a track car - its more a road car that can do the odd trackday IMO - id want to have deep pockets for stuff wearing out a lot sooner...and consumables are more expensive
if you have deep pockets and another car to take you to work, then sure, go for a Sag and rag the arse off it on track every weekend

I'm lucky enough to have owned both .... currently have a Sag and had an Exige S with Performance pack and AP brakes about 18 months ago.
The drive in the Exige was even sharper than the Sag ... but even with a custom exhaust, the sound was simply awful, just a banshee scream really that didn't get any lovelier up the rev range. Sag on the other hand is nearly as pin-sharp, sounds miles better, and is quicker in a straight line. Round a track ... well, depends on the track, but not much in it I think, with the Sag keeping close round the bends and gaining ground again on the straights.
I know this sounds strange, given that I currently own a TVR ... but my main reason for eventually selling the Exige, good though it was? - blasted build quality. Absolutely terrible, and the car was brand new too.

Just to balance the argument Simon, I went the other way, new TVR - new Lotus, due to the 'blasted build quality' and have had no problems. As I'm just round the corner from you now, you'll have to come round and give it go!The drive in the Exige was even sharper than the Sag ... but even with a custom exhaust, the sound was simply awful, just a banshee scream really that didn't get any lovelier up the rev range. I'm lucky enough to have had both - traded the Exige in for the TVR.
In my opinion the Lotus was much "sharper" to drive but lacks the excitement and raw power of the TVR, mine was just a standard Exige not the S.
It depends what you want the car for I think, if I'd have stayed with just track days the Lotus is the way forward. For a fun car with charisma the TVR wins hands down!
but that's just my opinion, what do I know lol

...and Exiges come with sticky tyres that last a few thousand miles ....Sagaris come with road tyres
is there noway to get sticky tyres that are designed for the Saggy?? I know the yoko's were designed specifically for the Exige-S but is there not a Saggy equivalent??? Edited by bing on Monday 15th June 12:36
Just fit A048s Yokos - they come in the right sizes ....but youd want some adjustable suspension and stiffer springs ....sagaris is sprung stiffer than a road car, but not enough for proper sticky tyres IMO ...it reminds of an Elise on the Lotus sport suspension i.e. a compromise ....slightly too hard for fast B road blats, and slightly too soft for real hard track use ..
...but all suspension set-ups are a compromise, so that can be said about most cars.....

I ran Dunlop direzza d2g tyres on the Sag.I have stiffer springs and the steering geo set up as per Graham Varley's manual.
A bit nervous on some not so good roads with some tramlining, but very confident on track and smooth surfaces.
As previous members have said,steering/suspension set up is a personal preference and dependent on what you want to use the car for.If you are doing track and road use ,one or the other will be a compromise.
I prefer the track biassed set up but it does make the car more nervous on the road.

Unless you are running 9" rims 265 on the rear will not be safe so the only choice on the rear is 235 which looks skinny. Do agree though Yokohama are far superior to Toyo, they tend to last longer before going off. With regards to the topic... Its all down to the driver/owner. Depends what ticks the box, they are both great cars with heaps of history. Personally the Lotus looks like a hairdressers car

How can you go from a balls out Cerbera to an Exige. Beats me.
