Fuel smell when cornering

Hello all,

I seem to be getting a fuel smell but only when I am cornering hard. This happened when I was on track a couple of weeks ago but no signs anywhere from inside the car but it stinks at the time.

Smell goes away and then I do not get it anymore, I am going to Zolder at the weekend so any ideas?

Leak where the fuel pump / sender unit is housed?

Open your boot & peel back the carpet. Drivers side at the rear of the boot floor, you will see a panel about 8" x 10" secured by about 10 or so self tappers. Remove the panel (access panel for the fuel pump and senser unit). see if any leaks around here? Might be able to tighten up the bolts securing the mounting to the top of your fuel tank, if not, get some sealent.

I think I know what this is behind the passenger seat pull away the carpet over the wheel arch you should find a small diameter black pipe with a none return inline valve check it may be cracked or broken.

I had to seal around the plate on mine, but this didn't stop all leaks. Check also the sender unit that pulls out of the plate. Mine had no 'o' ring on it from new. Once 'o' ring fitted it was fine. Presumably not fitted correctly at factory!

Had a look at this tonight, I was impressed as always with TVR's idea of a cover plate - not.

The bolts were very very loose so I tightened them all up, sealed the cover plate back on and lets hope its ok.
