Not according to the service schedule: TVR recommend servicing every 6,000 miles with a full on service every 12,000 which includes checking the valve clearances and adjusting as required (this may be an additional cost depending which garage you take it to).

The service schedule can be found on one of the forum posts somewhere: it's quite extensive.

As for cost, a recent 12k service cost me just shy of £1k from a North London ex-dealer, many places offer the same service for around £5-600 parts and labour but you should always expect there to be a couple of things that need sorting (especially engine mounts which can be a more-or-less consumable item).

I think you posted before about whether it's OK to skimp on service. The message is the same: don't do it - not only are you asking for trouble later on but you will have a hard job trying to sell the car in the future without a spotless service record.

My advice is the same as before - if want to save a couple of hundred quid by skipping a service you're buying the wrong car - please don't become one of those people who have owned and abused a TVR and then complain to all and sundry about how unreliable they are!

I wouldn't dream of neglecting the car- Especially a TVR. I know that maintenance in these cars is paramount.
The car isn't due a service for another 4000 miles, but it hasn't been services in a year - so I am not sure what to do.

Either service is early - or just have an oil change and wait for the 12,000 mile service to come round in 4000 miles

If it were me, I'd get the car serviced asap - apart from the standard stuff that will be renewed / replaced / topped-up etc. there is a reasonable amount of inspection done. This will highlight any urgent issues as well as giving you an idea of what to expect in the medium term. There's nothing to guarantee that something unforeseen won't go wrong but that's life... As I said in your earlier post, some garages offer a low-milage service for cars that don't do that many miles each year at a slightly reduced rate. Whatever you choose, I'd also get the valve clearances checked and adjusted for additional peace of mind.

Is it due a 6,000 or 12,000 mile service? The service schedule should be performed at each milage increment or annually, whichever is sooner. What I'm trying to say (and failing, probably) is that if the car has done less than 12,000 miles, don't assume that the next service is a 12,000 miler, it will be whatever the last one wasn't.

Service is due every 12 months or on mileage, whichever is first.

It has had its 6,000 mile service over a year ago, but has only covered 2k in the last year - which means I should get the 12k service done I guess.

It has a Tuscan 4.0s engine in it - does that make any difference? I guess not.

Same service schedule for all Speed 6s.

Shop around for that 12k service, the costs vary considerably - at the end of the day you should find a garage that your comfortable with. Ask around on here and on the general tvr forum for those with a good reputation close to you.

Oh, and enjoy it - I take it you did buy a Tamora in the end?

You need to service the car at least once a year to keep in tip-top condition (alternate between 6000 and 12000 mile schedules), even if its only done a few miles in the year. As others have said, it'll save you far more in the long run.
