Surprisingly not in the wrong forum.

My 80A power steering fuse has blown due to corrosion.

I'm about to replace it and schmirry (technical term) Vaseline all over it before covering in plastic wrapping and taping it all up.

I'm then going to schmirry the battery +ve with Vaseline (I have a lot of it around you know).

So the question is;

does Vaseline conduct electricity so that I can schhmirry it all over the contacts and fuse, or do I need to use it after I've connected the fuse?

ITY.

I doubt it does. On mine i just cleaned up the contacts and reassembled, then smothered the whole lot in Vaseline after to keep the moisture out.

Petroleum jelly (vaseline) is used extensively in telecommunications to keep moisture out of cable joints.
The joints come smothered in the stuff and external grade cables are full of it, if you've ever worked with the stuff it just gets everywhere.
Provided the metal has a good physical contact it will conduct OK whether covered with vaseline or not, I think because it is so soft it just gets pushed aside by the metal.

I'd like to move the whole lot into the footwell as in Chims and Griffs.

Would need to cut the current wall away and glass it infront of the battery.

Would also need to glass in a floor as well as the battery sits on a steel plate between the chassis rails.

Anyone made this sort of modification?

Can't see the advantage of the factory design - creates a well known fire risk to boot with the Andersen connector +ve corroding away and shorting out the battery.

My 80A fuse went the same way and was rotted so when the fuse went the holder went pop too. I replaced it with a waterproof marine fuse holder AND covered it with tape.
