Fire extinguisher and where to site it

Bought one of these just in case and then could'nt decide where to fit it.
Worried about drilling holes not knowing what's behind or causing leaks.
Anyway came up with this simply drilled 2 holes in GRP box and clipped it in.
My wifes short so she should'nt kick it but it is safe should she.
Where do other owners site theres?

Mine (looks the same) fits perfectly under the luggage cover holder in the boot

wedge it inbetween the passsenger seat and transmission tunnel in my chim, hasn,t moved yet. but again didn't want to drill holes for it and end up going through the fuel tank!!!!

I tiewrapped mine to the roll cage in the Sag so as not to leave any holes.


Edited to add - Same as Lensey photo below, only mine is passenger side so I can reach it from the drivers seat.

I have a similar problem, in having a fire exstinguisher but not wanting to drill any holes. I'm thinking about fitting the fire extinguisher to the shelve behind the seats of my Tamora. Instead of drilling holes, cut slits in the fabric and attach the fire exstinguisher holder to the fabric via cable ties.

I used heavy duty velcro. Stick to the extinguisher and then wrapped over the seat adjuster. Site under the drivers legs, no chance of it moving, and exactly where it needs to be - at hand!!

The extinguisher moves with the seat so driver changes is not an issue.

Same here, though on the passenger side. I used something like these:


They wrap around themselves several times over, and the vibration over time just makes velcro stick better and better. I'm pretty sure the extinguisher would come out of the clip before the clip would come off the mounting.

I bought two smaller carbon covered ones on ebay. They face inwards across the cover of the luggage cover and mechanism, almost meeting in the middle. The cover is quite strong and has a big void above the rolled up cover, I drilled and self tapped them. The good thing is that one can be accessed by the passenger and one the driver. Furthermore both are easy to access from the boot.

Can't see any sign of a retaining strap, is it just help in with that spring clip? That's not a good idea, the unit can spring out in a shunt. How is the clip attached to the roll cage? I can see what looks like a couple of tie wraps. Personally I'd want something rather more substantial. Is it possible to reach your extinguisher from the driver's seat? Ideally you want to be able to.

I have a velcro strap to go around the extinguisher but don't want to make it too difficult to get out of the bracket otherwise its worthless, yes I can get to it from the driver seat, as for the cable ties the whole car isn't held together with much more


The helmet hammock is handy for stopping the shopping flying around the back

I keep my distinguisher in the boot (on the T350 I had one mounted in the corner of the boot, screwed into the wheel arch). If my car has a fire I'm getting out of the cabin sharpish. If its a tiny smoldering electrical type fire then I'll try to put it out. Otherwise the car can burn. A firemen told me unless I'm very lucky the only way to really control an engine fire is with a full plumbed in system like racers have.

The other main reason for even carrying one is just in case it helps save someone else from their wreck. You never know.

The factory fitted 'mine' just in-front of the passenger seat, and then plumbed it in. There is a sodding great pull handle where the radio would normally be located in the production car.
