Tamora roof cleaning

My Tam delayed a bit while it is retrimmed. So in the meantime:
a)When you wash the car do you use the normal car shampoo on the roof?
b)Is there a roof cleaner you'd recommend that will keep it pristine?
c)Should I use a roof water and stain 'proofer' (don't even know if there is such a thing) and if yes what would you recommend?
d)On my motorbikes I use 'Plexus' for the plastics and it's been great. Anyone used this on the rear screen and what are the longer term results like? What do you use?
e)Most out of the way places in my wife's work carpark are under trees. Is it worth the hassle of using a hood cover or does tree sap come off the roof okay?

a) Yes
b) I think Renovo does a product (see below). I don't bother.
c) Most people seem to use Renovo. They do a range of cleaners / protectors etc. It's not exactly cheap. I've used the Reviver in the past (black roof on my Chimaera. One problem I found was the hard roof and the fold down hoop didn't stain to exactly the same colour of black but it did look pretty smart when done. Doing the Tamora is a job I never quite seem to get around to and I need to buy new stainer since the roof is blue).
They also do a 'protector'. Its a bit difficult to tell if this works or not but my roof doesn't leak! I've also used Fabsil (from camping shops).
d) Another Renovo product is available. I wasn't that impressed but think I may have been overly gentle. Previously used Brasso on my Spitfire which was great for 3 months and then a disaster as it must have taken off whatever lacquer was used.
e) Yes, get a cover. Sap does not come off easily and can stain badly if not removed quickly.

Renovo do good products for cleaning & proofing. Meguires do scratch-x that can be used on the rear screen to remove light scratches. Be careful when cleaning using cloths with loose fibres as they stick to the roof. I use Renovo Clear Plastic and Window Polish, gets rid of
the clouding and scratches then MOTHERS Convertible Top
Cleaner for the fabric.
