Clutch issues

My gears are getting very hard to engage, either at standstill or idle often requiring a hefty shove/pull to release a gear and engage the next (1st, 2nd & 3rd are worst) plus when at idle in gear with the clutch down the car actually feels like its ever so slightly engaged as it shakes the car.

Is this likely to be a new clutch needed or just a slave? My car has only done 13k and the clutch felt fine up until a couple of weeks ago.
What sort of price am I looking at for a new clutch and/or a slave?

having similar issues at the mo, 1st is sometimes tough and reverse grinds. pumping the clutch a couple of times seems to make things easier.

i think it's about 800 for the clutch & 500 for the slave...

TVR power are doing the AP clutches for £700 + VAT all in; not sure about slave cylinder I thought they were about £250?

Sorry to hear of further woes Tony...

How much of a pig is it to replace just the slave cylinder? I thought that common wisdom was to change the slave at the same time as the clutch - does that hold true the other way 'round?

Thanks guys - I spoke at length with Matt (Sebring) today and from what I've said he reckons its almost certainly the clutch dragging. At idle, clutch down in gear it almost tries to creep forward and I've zero adjustment left on the pedal stop which is a bummer. Anyone know how much mileage I'm likely to have left? I can't get it done this week and need to get to Stansted on Wednesday to meet a friend for a track day at Brands (fortunately in her Lotus than my TVR).

Matt quoted around a grand for clutch plus slave so my first expensive bill on this car, though I may as well get a service and valve adjustment done at the same time - not due for another 2k but saves another trip!

Have you seen TVR Powers rate for a clutch?
I know there not on your doorstep but you might be able to get a courtesy car.

Seen that but when you add the VAT and then the price of a slave cylinder it works out a similar cost to Matt (someone I trust with my car impecably).

That irritates me why one retailer shows prices including VAT and another does'nt.

Thats a very good price from someone as reputable as Power. I've just had a brand new clutch and slave for £1137 all in from a similarly reputable indy

Thanks Mark - I shall let you know how I get on. Matts on holiday from next week so I've just got to hope she holds out for a little while.

Anyone know how long they last when they start dragging?
