Had the T350 up for sale for over a month now but no real interest?
Couple of phone calls making potential arrangements to have a look but that is as far as it goes.
Thought it would have been a good time to sell and priced about the same as the others.
Only Red rose for sale but no interest?
Have really got the itch to change, and just seen the 2 Red Rose cerbies in the classifieds!!
Anyway, can't complain it still looks great in the garage and goes like stink!!

TVRs are a very niche product and you won't have buyers queuing up to purchase. When I sold my Chimaera last year it was over a month before I got my first phone call, I then sold to the first person who saw it and had 5 or 6 other enquiries the same week until I pulled the ad.
Be patient and please don't fall into the desperate seller category and reduce the price to a silly amount... smile

Yes don't sell under the ask price after one month if not sold each week thereafter raise the price by £50 the people in the market for TVR's need a wake up call on values.

you're selling it too cheap, we're all asking 10K more for our cars now, put it up at bit, you're bound to get some more interest then wink

R9TUS, why not put up a couple more pictures of the interior too, it may help you sell it and/or get more interest.

....if nothing else, it will at least make your ad appear at the top of the list wink

Will add some interior pics at the weekend.
Might even put the price up?
I thought it was a bit cheap as it is a nice one, will have a think?

Really fancy a cerb for a change, had every thing else!
Maybe a Sag? We'll see

I suppose I'm your target market R9TUS. I did see your ad but it just seems one of those cars that's, well, about middle of the road. Strange thing to say I guess, but it's got a decent amount of miles, is a 2004 and at the higher end of the prices.... nothing there that really makes it stand out. Most would be buyers are being quite tight with their money at the moment. As many are seeing, irrelevant of the perceived value at the moment, most specialist cars aren't shifting like they used to.

Maybe try the inside pictures, play with the price or get an aftermarket warranty and refuse to budget on price, just to make it stand out.

Mine took 2 months to sell from the PH adverts.

Got LOADS of interest when I updated the add with a few fancy looking pics.
It's one of those cars that the buyer has to be looking for that exact car for it to sell, takes a while but there's always someone out there, have faith!

lots of people want/need dealer facilities and a bit more protection on a high value sale

when we were selling the Sag earlier in the year, it was up for a month with just a couple of phonecalls/emails

so we put it on sale or return at a dealer and it sold within 3 days to the 2nd guy that viewed it ....it was worth the grand or so fee for the dealer to save the hassle IMO

the buyer could get finance, do a p/x, and got a 3 month warranty off the dealer, so everyone is was a winner smile

Right ones at the right price go within days.

Example - http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/classifieds/1215138.h...

Sold within 8 days IIRC

Do you cheap ones??

The right cars sell because they are right and priced accordingly.

A cynical person would ask why the car was so cheap as has happened with the Silver 4.0 litre engined car.

Bottom line is it's no good trying to value cars on here that appear to expensive or cheap, you need to go and look at them. There is very often a good reason the car is priced the way it is and the quality does vary on TVRs this age.

Worthwhile remembering, you need to kiss a few frogs...

I agree with you, each car should be viewed in isolation, I was just trying to point out that some late cars sell for a lot less that others would sell the same car for. All I was trying to say was if the seller is desperate to sell then the car CAN be sold quickly.

Personally, if I saw a car I liked and it was in good condition etc then it doesnt matter what the market says, it's just a simple negotiation between seller and buyer.

Much the way I do business buying my cars, sometimes I pay a little more than I should in retrospect. One thing I always tray and do is buy cars that are as close to faultless as possible - they seldom come cheap.

What he said. Also make sure you add a good shot of the drivers seat and footwell/interior, and vacuum the carpet/clean the panel by the clutch footrest first. I see so many ads with skanky pictures.

The best way to think about placing an Ad is to remember what it was in the advert when you BOUGHT the car that attracted you and grabbed your attention. If it worked on you it will almost certainly work on others.

I've recently advertised my T350 and had 5 people contact me. One person came to view and absolutely loved it. He told me he definitely wants it but must sell his Elise 1st so he'll sell it back to Lotus if he hasn't sold it privately asap.......! A time waster or a genuine buyer only tme will tell. There does seem to be many dreamers out there at the mo!

Constructively, as someone who is/was interested in a T350, but who is not mechanically minded, and is a bit wary of TVR reputation, your ad is a bit of a mix between a well-sorted example and one which I'd be wary of. Combine that with the non-bargain price, and it was enough to hold on for something else.

eg the factory red-rose is a good thing, aftermarket back-boxes ("with original in garage") is not. (to me...)
Personally I'd be wary of buying a non-dealer, non-warranty car that I thought had bits changed "in the garage", and that's what came across when I read yours.

There is also the problem of not getting finance when buying privately, and I'd agree with others who suggest giving it to a dealer and giving them the amount you'd be prepared to knock-off price anyway if a serious buyer wanted to haggle. Makes it easier for all parties to do a deal.

If your advert said "immaculate, enthusiast owned, fully-sorted T350 with factory red-rose engine and full suspension upgrade by specialist with full TVRSH", and you had left (or put back in advance) the standard back box and thrown in some good interior shots it would have been more to my interest. The bit about all the other cars you'd owned seems to be trying a bit too hard to justify that this is the best, IMO.

Hope that helps, don't take it personally, just my thoughts!

Interestingly enough, I called, left messages and emailed about the Racing Green FFF car, but never got any response, so I guess some people are not as keen as you to sell their cars!

Cheers

All interesting reading.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
It's lovely and sunny tonight I hope it doesn't sell by the weekend!

Just one comment to TRIXMAN - Nice to know that my beautiful RED ROSE spectraflair T350c, with full geo, uprated shocks, JP exhaust, paint protection, full leather, recently serviced with tappets, new tyres, perfect wheels, new stereo, ipod connection, and best TVR I've had out of 5 other speed 6 cars is "MIDDLE OF THE ROAD"!!!!! Have you had a TVR?? Have you seen one??

Anyway I,m off to enjoy the weekend in my beast and dream of my next few TVR's in the years to come
