Tam back box and Tam car cover?

Hi Everyone,
After seeing a rather nice Tam car cover go on here around 6 months ago I think its time to actually get one instead of thinking about it... does anyone have any gems on this subject, or know of a second h one I could get?
I'm also looking for an exhaust for my Tam, either a second H sports exhaust... or more likely just a bog standard one (if anyone has one gathering dust?)
Does anyone think they have improved the sound of thier Tam? If so then how...
I take my car to meetings so I dont want to be de-catting really... just a teeny bit louder with more pops and bangs.

Well I dont know what a fair price for these things are. I have seen a very shiny one for £50 which should tick all the boxes.
The current one is a bit boring... so I was going see if I could cut it open, remove the wadding and then seal it back up? basically have a play around, but I dont want to mess up the one on the car!!

I may know someone who has tried just that...great result with a more meaty, mellow sound. It was a big pain in the hole to get there though and in hind sight JP or Power Sports exhausts would have probably been a more straight forward route given the amount of skin lost in the exercise.
Also be very careful who you get to weld it...the metal used is a real spitter and I spent some hours with a airline sander taking the snots off after getting some new finishers fitted (I passionately hated the rolled end ones).

Interesting stuff! So what finishers did you fit? do you have any pics?

The only kits I have seen just seem to block the tail pipes to reduce noise, but I can't see that being a sensible soloution? I'm wondering if its possible to have a remote paddle switching between cat and de-cat, or between backbox and no back box? I doubt the there is enough room... but I'd love to have that option.
I beleive the new audi S3's have a volume control fitted! so you can play. I would be nice to have it on a rev switch too, so it goes wild over 4k.

Straight cut, 3" bore, 90 degree bends added. Will try and find the piccies.
Cars with active exhausts generally have active components in the silencer to alter the flow of gas around the system (if you take the fuse out they default to noisy). Not seen any designed to work around the cats though. You would effectively need a paralel pipe to bypass the cat..which would get very messy / hot around your chassis rails...not to mention a smidge dificult to explain come MOT time.

Yes i have heard that about outdoor covers... thanks for the heads up.
Extra pipes would indeed get messy, you're right. The remote exhausts i have seen have a small pipe, and a 3" pipe that vent into the same tip. The small pipe is muffled in the back box, and the 3" is not. Then a vacume valuve controles which pipe the gas flows through.
Does anyone know whats in a back box (pics)... and if it would be tricky to sqeeze in some extra pipes?
