Oil Pressure - Worried!

I've got used to the oil pressure coming on a low revs and then being fine - always put this down to the sensor after being advised as much.

But yesterday it's coming on straight away and holding at between 2 & 7 psi! Anyone else had this and what have they done about it?

It's about to go into winter storage next week so do I just not drive it and look at this when it's goes into for its service?

If this is a hot figure then it is very low (should be 12-15) but could just be a faulty sensor which is a very common problem.
On the other hand mine had a similar problem his time last year and it required a bottom end rebuild o sort out a faulty big end bearing which in turn caused the low pressure. Get the sender changed first and see what happens but whatever you do don't ignore it!

In that case I wouldnt run the engine until someone has checked it out. Cost of transporter to local indie = £200. Cost of engine rebuild = potentially thousands

If you're in the AA/RAC/Green Flag then perhaps they can check it out for you.

Order up a new sender and change it your self only take you 20mins with only basic tools required.
Mine did the same new sender sorted it out.

Hi Chris, when I owned the car it was doing that too, even after the re-build, turned out it was just the sensor.

How's the old girl doing anyway?

Good to know thanks for that, I was a bit when the warning came on yesterday...

She has been a dream all summer 5k miles+ and no major problems at all - going into storage next week due to a spot of knee surgery and some winter protection - did you ever store the beast?
