I'm ordering some F1 Asymetrics tomorrow and noticed that 225/40x18 are £20 cheaper per tyre. Has anyone gone 'up' from the standard 35 to 40 profile on the front and what was the result?

Thanks.

I thought the lower profile tyre helped the agressive stance of the car, this would be lost with the higher profile. Don't know what the F1's come in at but Camskill are doing the Toyo's for £104 each!

My Tuscan had 225/35/18's and the ride was very poor, I have gone to 225/40's and the ride is much better plus the car understeers less when pushing on. Thumbs up from me.

I'm happy with the ride on 225/35.

I don't understand why 225/40 would result in less understeer?

It used to be fine on the 35' till it hit a bump mid corner then as there was no give in the side wall (as its very stretched on the wide spiders) I can only presume the tyre and suspension being quite firm could not react in time, hence a loss of grip. The 40 profile looks better on the rim in my opinion and no were near as stretched so has more give. Oh and this was with the same brand of tyres too.

Thanks, good point. Clearance is v tight on the T350 front though, I'm worried about this more than anything hence my original post.

About to get a set of R888s and they only do 225/40s, anyone had any experience?

Everyone seems to like them. But since I'm heading to Switzerland on Friday I thought some grooves in my tyres would be useful smile

Don't blame you, I was thinking trackday/summer use. I have used them previously but not in that size.
