groggy starting from cold

My T350 has just started to occasionally grumble when starting from cold! Turns over a couple of times more than usual before firing, and then sounds/feels like it's struggling to hold the revs. Once it's warm it's as good as ever. My (untrained) theory is that something that monitors the temperature is going wrong, and telling the cold engine that it's actually hot, and giving it too much fuel... or something! Am I close?

How long since it was last serviced or at the dealer? It could well benefit from being hooked up to the laptop and adjusted. I have usually found them to start to slip out of tune after 3k-4k miles after a service and a trip to the dealer usually sorts things very quickly.

I may, of course, be wrong but just speaking from experience.

6 mnthly service at Str86 was in May, and although it's my only car, I've not done more than about 3K miles since then.

I would still take it and get it hooked up to the laptop. That would be my first instinct.

Yes, I'm going to contact Barnet in a while, as I don't like any issues to go unchecked.

Mine was doing a similar thing during the summer - start it up and have to hold the revs for a minute or so with the accelerator, otherwise the revs fall to 450/500 and it would stall. Also when it was fully wam it would rev high - c. 1250/1300.

Took it into The Garage and he adjusted the throttle bodies and it was fine, but the problems back.

It's booked to go back in so fingers crossed its nothing serious.

Sounds exactly like the throttle bodies just need setting up properly again. Some cars (mine included) really benefit from having them done every 2k miles or so, depending on what sort of journeys you do.

The guys at TrackVRoad end up doing mine every time they have the car and it runs like clockwork afterwards.

Definitely make that your first point of call as its free/cheap...

Hopefully get a check this weekend, but only did it a couple of times, and has been fine since a top up at Shell a few days ago. Previous fill up was super-unleaded at Sainsburys, so could that have been teh cause? Surely garages would continuously monitor the quality of their petrol and close the pump if there's a problem?
