Engine Timing?

When my Tamora gets hot and both engine fans come on, it starts to pink. I'm 95% sure that the second fan coming on is knocking the timing out(and its only when the second fan is on).
Its not very often a problem in this country but when i'm abroad or on track it causes a problem.
Has anyone had this or able to give advice?

I would have thought it might be because the engine is hotter when the 2nd fan comes on rather than being caused by the fan itself coming on.

You are correct!
It does happen - the ignition advances if the fans are on, and above 3500rpm.

TVR Power have a revised map EPROM chip that fixes it I think.

Otherwise try and remove the oil tank breather from the air box-
This contaminates the fuel mixture and does same

I understood the issue to be injector 6 not functioning correctly when second fan on above 3500. Solution is the same - chip from Power.

?? Not sure on this , but as you say Power chip sorts the cause

Thanks for the replies guys. I will phone power.

I phoned TVR Power and they said to bring the car to them so they can reprogram something on the chip and the problem will be solved(cross fingers). At a cost of £150. Just in case anyone else experiences this problem.

I beleive you can get the chip "sent out" and swapped - just incase your too far away from TVR Power (was told it was the same price too).

The winters coming so the pinking's going to happen alot less often (and the odd shot of octane boaster works wonders )

Thanks Killer Jim. I think they said they could do a swap but would much prefer to have the car in to do it. I'm in Bristol, so 1h30mins away. I would quite like to meet them and see their set up as well.
