The Queens English
Discussion
It seems I ruffled quite a few feathers yesterday in another post. I would of course like to respond to some of the quite dissapointing comments so.....
Mr J Rodger, having taken the time to identify those your comments were aimed at rather than just generalise, can we now remove a great percentage of the working classes who are happy just to be able to get bring their kids up well, get them a decent education, be able to pay their household bills without going into debt but never aspire to be anything else but good parents? If so I guess we can agree on the point you made so poorly, despite your further education - something I never aspired too.
Mr Stimshandy, apparently, some folk are unable to distinguish beteween bad grammar/spelling and bad language, the later being where my objection was - the use of uncensored four letter words on an open internet forum.
As for your inference that I have critcised others in the past for poor written English and in particular bad spelling. Could I be so bold as to suggest you do some homework on my posts. I do not make a habit of correcting spelling, and for a reason I have highlighted more than once, and that is my own inabilty in that area. I do however criticise folk from time to time for spouting nonsense on things they know very little about but profess to know much - maybe that's confused you.
A man of few words Mr Druid. Up my own backside am I....well they say that you never see yourself as others do, and sadly, few get to meet those that they choose to judge on the internet. If however, having strong opinions on some things is the same as being up my own backside, well maybe you're right. I am more than hapy to discuss it - over a beer perhaps, if we do meet in the small world that is TVR ownership.
Mark and Paul, many thanks for the character references - and for the record Mark, I too was brought up on a council estate (fotunately by the type of parents who I made reference too in my second paragraph of this post). The estate was a not particularly pleasant one in a rough area of Sunderland. I was fortunate enough to be educated in a good Comprehensive school, but sadly one that was not good enough to identify a reading and writing disorder that I have learned to cope with....
Thanks for taking the time to read the post, it only took an hour to compose it hopefully its free from any huge grammar or spelling mistakes and has not offended anyone.
Kam, apologies for diverting the previous post off topic.

Stuff
David,I did read your post again, I then slept on it as I find posting when angry or tired is not always a good thing. You mentioned those claiming benefit after you had grouped everyone who had no asperations as not impacted by the credit crunch. I appear pedantic - that's because I am working class (I don't see anyone who regularly works 80 hours per week away from home as any thing else..)
If you would like to read my post again, you will see that I have tried to explain why my spelling isn't always so clever, but then it was the bad language rather than grammar and spelling I had a problem with and not really a big one at that, my original post you will see does have a few smilies in it.
Read further and you will see it was others who brought up spelling and grammar.
edited to say, thanks for editing your intial response, I though it was a bit unfair.

IMHO this is a pointless thread and is in no way constructive to TVR owners in any way.
ZippyTT,I posted this because I wished to respond to some observations and remarks made by others. I did not wish to continue to take the post they were made in further off topic.
If you have a problem with it, by all means report it to the mods and have it removed.
If anyone's feathers are ruffled, it's yours TVR_Owner for producing this thread. Once again this is not an English class. I have a good friend who knows more about the inner workings of a car than I could possibly ever imagine, he however, is dyslexic, if he were to comment on PistonHeads I can picture exactly what the text and language would look like, and the unfortunate comments he could potentially receive by people being small-minded and bashing his written abilities, sure it’s easy for most, but not everyone falls in that category. To be honest this is a place for people who are enthusiastic about cars and not people here to correct each other’s English, or comment on their use of language, we’re all adults. If people wish to curse, let them, we are not the language-police and have no right/control to enforce such a thing. Can I suggest this would be more of an appropriate website for you to visit: http://www.usingenglish.com/english_forum.html

Lots of stuff
Tell you what Matt, you're probably right in some ways. My feathers were ruffled but I was attempting to put my side of an arguement accross that refered to a statement I made in the first part of my original post.
My other secondary issue was with bad language, a reference to someone's lack of the Queens English is often used in connection with folk who cannot manage to string together a sentance without resorting to swear words. This was the context in which I used it, only for you to interperate it as something else - many thanks.
As for visiting other websites, yes you're probably right, maybe I should.
One should not worry about ones own ability to communicate with one another through the medium of text. I suggest one continues to focus on TVR cars rather than negativity to one another.
If one sounds up ones own bottom then please ignore ones comments :-)
PS Why did they make Dyslexia so hard to spell?

A trawl of an agitated persons previous posts and usually gives you an idea of whether these are isolated incidents, or whether the person involved clearly has an attitude problem.
If it’s the former, then I suggest its best to simply ignore it as a one off. If it’s the latter, then I suggest in those particular cases its better simply to avoid posting a reply and getting dragged into a war of words.

So have you been through the previous posts of the folk who have been giving me dogs abuse to find out if they are agitated persons or if this is a one off case.. Thanks Steve but I'm over it. I've given up the will to live and I really can't be bothered with PH anymore.darkmark07 said:
Can I be the first to point out the missing apostrophe in the post title?
Thanks - as you were
You can indeed Mark, well done. Thanks - as you were

Small point though while I am having a sense of humour by-pass, it isn't me that has an issue over spelling, it's someone else who thinks I have.
