t350 headlight covers

i have bought a headlight cover from racing green as one of the old ones,had a stone chip. it comes all clear plastic but on the fitted old ones,there is a 1/2'' black border on them. is this what the cover rests on?
i was going to remove the old cover with a knife and hold the new cover in place with black silicone,is this correct,thanks.

Hi,
You will find the cover is oversize and will need sanding down not an easy job.
The black line is to hide the sickaflex 221 needed to bond it and cap it.
Best use Sika 106 i think that's the code paint for polycarbonate not glass.
You should get a large cotton bud for the paint and use your finger as a guide to apply.
People will advise you to use Ambersill to cap off IMO don't use it.
