Insurance claims
Discussion
My pride and joy 4000 mile T350t has now been written off by Aviva but they are being very difficult in agreeing a market value. I took out the policy through Adrian Flux so beware. Big difference between the real value and theirs, £3K!!
I was offered a group A courtesy car, surprising that I did not want it, they then offered a group E, I prefer the bus or walking than a Mondeo.
Oh and the recovery that was included in the quotation vaporised, small print!!!
Now a new car, wish I could afford a nice Saggy but I still adore T350ts,
Anyone thinking of a new insurance quote beware. I thought Manning were difficult just changing a registration but I will find a new insurer when I find a new car.

Sorry to hear about your car's demise. Good luck with the negotiations, and finding a new P&J !!
I took out Adrian Flux insurance last year cos of the TVR CC deal.. for both my Tiv and BM.... Hope I don't need to call on it b4 I get a chance to move next Feb!
At the end of the day, the most important thing about an Insurance company is the pay-out in your situation... almost makes any potential quote savings irrelevant if you lose 1,2,3k on write off.
We need to know who's not 'user friendly' so we can avoid them - keep us informed!

Can only quote my experience with Chaucer through Jelf last year. My Tamora was written off and they paid full market value, no hassle, no arguments quick payment. If you can only tell the good insurance companies by how they handle claims then Chaucer must be as good as it gets. Wouldn't even think of going elsewhere.I took out Adrian Flux insurance last year cos of the TVR CC deal.. for both my Tiv and BM.... Thanks BigGriff,
I have provided several valuations and comparables from classified but where do I find a 4000 mile mint replacement?

Thanks everyone for your help.
They have escalated the claim to Senior Engineers and I have provided some comparables. Very hard when my car had only done 4000 miles and was only 40 minutes from Surface and design where the car had left pristine plus X Works had just spent £2100 on the car.
The cars at David Gerald's between them make a reasonable comparison.
I asked Aviva to pay me nothing and deliver me a car the same as mine, they have not chosen that option!!
Adrian Flux have been no assistance whatsoever so beware.
The courtesy car initially offered was a group A, then a group E, I prefer a bus or to walk! Range Rover better these days anyway!!
I will keep trying.

Unfortunately they never do! For some reason insurance companies are always of the opinion the general public are able to replace their p&j's at bottom end trade money.I'm seriously considering an agreed value policy just in case. Best of luck with your claim though - will you be getting another?
PS - I've heard that about Flux as well, right from back in my teenage hot hatch days (14-15 years ago now) and we wouldn't touch them back then!

Hey mate!
I went through the exact same thing this time last year when my T350 was written off by an idiot going through a give way. I was fully comp, protected NCB and whilst it was obvious the other party was at fault my insurance company was to pay out and then claim it back from the other. Therefore, ended up in dispute with my own insurance company, argued for almost a Month till we both found a price everyone was happy with.
My advice, stick to your figure and get support from people like Castle TVR etc who helped convince the insurance fella my car was worth a lot more than what he was trying to offer.
I wanted £22K when first asked, insurance company told me no more than £16K, after x1 Month of Emails and calls I got £21K.
Good luck, drop me a PM if you want any more information.
BTW, I got a letter/SMS from a nice fella who ended up buying my old CAT-D T350. He was very happy with the motor, getting it all fixed and sorted right now, for sure deserves another chance as it was a cracking motor (keep an eye out for it and new owner on this forum)!
Cheers

Thanks everyone for their help and advice. In the end Aviva agreed my value and settled. It really did not need to be so difficult and what a stressful time. Losing your P&J is quite bad enough believe me. I thought I had found a replacement but it was not quite there which is a pity. I will check more small print in future and maybe take out a GAP policy instead.
Bought a Kart today to get some smiles per gallon.
X Works Service as always a great help, Richard at Track V Road, HHC, Racing Green and David Gerald. This really is a tightly knit group of enthusiasts and dealers.

Chas from Racing Green sold the lovely Cascade Copper Targa to France with twenty something grand miles for about £25K so asking plenty for my 4000 mile car was justified. Maybe Insurers just expect you to fold and give in. I knew I was right and stuck to my principles, just wasted a lot of time, emotion and effort.

Congrats Donald on sticking to your guns and getting what ur car was worth... If ur still hunting for a T350C in the spring...chat to Richard at TrackVRoad as mine will be up for sale then.. :cheekyplug:
Thanks for the heads up but I do not like the Coupes, for me TVR motoring needs an element of fresh air, it would be so dull if we were all the same. Sadly there are probably only about 40 straight Targas left. Mine was one of the best, if it gets a new chassis it will be a lovely car again. My bet is one of the buying cartel like douglas valley or auto wash will have it back on the road in no time with a repaired chassis.Gassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
