Couple of issues...

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Over the winter I've been taking the Sagaris out every fortnight or so, just to keep it ticking over. However, when I go to pull away for the first time, it feels as if the brakes are stuck and it takes a bit of welly to actually get the car moving. Am I right to do this? Is there anything that I can do to prevent this in future (besides more frequent running).

Secondly, I hit a pothole last weekend and the small, plastic clip that rests above the driver's side window popped out. Any idea where I can get a replacement, and should I be able to fit it myself?

The brake issue is probably due to the discs being wet before you park up, try using them heavily just before you pull in to your drive way/garage to dry them out. Either that or use a hairdryer to dry them off when you park up .

As for the latch, have you tried Power or RG?

Since the banning of asbestos in the brake lining material this problem of the pads sticking is quite common.

The modern pads have a higher ferrous metal content in them which effectively corrodes to the disc face even with the normal amount of water vapour in the air. Not a great deal you can do to prevent it unless you are fortunate enough to have a heated/dehumidified garage to to store it in.

There is a really good picture in this months EVO Fast Fleet section of a Merc SL63AMG that was left outside for six days over the Christmas period. The driver said it took 10 high speed stops to clean the corrosion off the disc surface

I leave my handbrake off in the garage, just chock the wheels.

It will still do it with the handbrake off - discs need to be dried before parking up.

Excellent, thanks for the helpful responses guys. I'll be sure to dry the brakes out before parking next time. Glad that it seems to be a simple fix!

I also leave my handbrake off and just leave in gear as its always parked in the garage and it definitely helps. I've done this ever since I washed my previous T350 and put it straight away in garage afterwards, then next time I went to drive it couldn't get the brakes to release for love nor money! That taught me! Doesn't happen very often at all now and when it does it only takes a slight bit of movement to release them.

I give mine a nudge every few days when I'm passing it to stop this. It does help to have an attached garage though
