SAGARIS on the Nurburgring
Discussion
Mark, I took mine around the Ring in 2007 & bottomed out all over place as the standard Bilsteins were too soft. It was like the crash landing sequence at the beginning of 'Six Million Dollar Man'
Went back last May did 7 laps or so with Nitron Race dampers with Eibach springs 600 front with 450 rears, no bottoming out whatsoever & felt like a plump Steve Austin in a Saturn 5 Rocket circling the Earth, then the clutch went...
With your driving capabilities I recommend Nitrons with Eibach's with the above spring ratings. Yet if you drive around there like Miss Daisy which I'm sure you won't, the Bilsteins will be fine...

Cheers for the info Shaun, did you damage the front spliter or the underside with standard set up?
John did you ever take your Sag around the Ring? and i'm still waiting for your Sag track set up
and are you still at Oulton on Wednesday?

First Shaun. New uprated springs on the old shocks would be an improvement. New uprated sprinigs on new shocks, billies or Nitrons wouuld be better still.
Mark. Won't be at Oulton...work. Track settings I will pass on when I catch up with you next, it's not a radical change from standard, but does help the turn in and gets rid of the dreadfull understeer the car suffers from in standard set-up.

Ok John, hope to catch up later in the year.
Mark, didn't damage the front splitter but nearly did, plenty of deep gouges, scratches etc & bangs underneath, the rear was similar. Fouled the arches quite a bit as well, more so with track tyres on & F4 pads. Too many pies I think contributed perhaps as well...
With the Nitron set up near eradication on bottoming out. The only time was boarding the ferry at Hull/Rotterdam docks was still an issue a bit, nothing to do with the double curry with chips, chips & chips don't like rice, the night before though!
Seriously, even with Nitron set up didn't go in the Karrousel though just in case. Did with Tuscan S the Sagaris is somewhat lower at front.
If you did change your springs, any harder than what I had especially at the Ring would be to hard, at Silverstone etc would be ok with smooth flat track. I think T450T has higher poundage on his T car for track use, not sure if Mark has took his car around the Ring though.
With your Ring knowledge & appropriate set up, traffic permitting, temperature an extremely quick lap time would be achieved at the Ring in a Sagaris which would shock a lot of people. When I was there last May I was just getting 'warmed up' then frustratingly the clutch failed. The car was seriously flying round & the handling was sublime, borderline incredible.
Sometimes wish I still had it, there is a possible comeback ensuing with a TVR & quite fancy the Power 4.5 Speed Six.
Anyway, take care though as the speeds achieved around the Ring in a sorted Sagaris would eclipse what your Griffith does by quite a bit maybe.

Cheers Shaun/John,
Yes I don't take my Griff in the Karussells now it's been set up just thought it might be ok with a factory set up Sag(so going to lose time in both karussells), My Griff has no problem keeping up with quick Sagaris's around Anglesey and Oulton though they aren't power circuits. On the uphill parts and long straights of the Nurburgring the Sagaris will murder the Griff (100mph+) so will gain loads of time so I can't wait to get over to the Ring not that I time myself
you coming in your new monster?
;)

I went in the Karrousells with standard set up once not even fast & was like I mentioned earlier Six Million Dollar Man opening sequence. Yeah, may lose a bit of time skirting the Kara's but with the Ring being vast time can be made all over the place. ;)Upto 80 ish my Griffith I had was as quick the other TVR's I've had then would have been blitzed over 100 as yours. Both cars together at the Ring the Griffith would be way off the pace & would be 10's of seconds behind of course if timing was permitted. What I have found from 70 to 140 a Speed Six car is much quicker than the Griffith, them speeds are predominantly what would be attained at the Ring,Spa & Silverstone. O to 80 nothing in it! Having owning both cars together must be fabulous?
I have had an offer for Monster which I'm deliberating over at this time, It will be too savage for the Ring with me at the helm possibly. If I accepted the offer another TVR probably another Mk1 Tuscan S with 4.5 & proper set up is favourite & a few other contenders. They do say "you should never go back to an Ex"
Whatever I have, will be at the Ring twice this year hopefully & Spa as well with Goldtrack. Would prefer not to do the tourist days at the Ring as mayhem there now plus looking forward to going on the Ring Racer rollercoaster. Sagaris around Spa was more suited than at the Ring, the Ring is still 'King' for me though. Fancy taking your Sagaris to Spa as well?

;)Thinking of doing this as well, Spoke to Andy today and it's ATDO/FAEO covered, though I will be trailering the Sagaris down if I go.
