Boot lid release

Tam badge push switch is not operating the solenoid, currently using the pull cable.

Does anyone know where to start looking, is it a matter of peeling back the carpet and checking the connections or is there another place to look?

Sure I had this problem and ended up changing a fuse? Have you checked the fuse list?

no I hadn't, but will though - looking at the hand book though I can't see which one it is - do you remeber?

Yes, you can pull open the plastic door inside the boot and there are two nuts holding the badbge & plinth in. Connectors are also there as is the solenoid

Might be wrong, but I have the strange feeling it was something like the 'interior light' etc. fuse...?

Could be loads of causes for this. It could simply be the rubber that's attached to the back of the boot badge has dropped off, or it could be the fuse.

The boot release solenoid also sometimes has a tendency to just 'jam' for no real reason. No amount of pressing the button will get it to work, but take it apart and use a 9v battery on it and it just starts working! Also worth checking the supply leads and button with a Fluke to make sure all is well there, once you have discounted everything else.

I've had a real nightmare with ours in the past and took a lot of time and effort to try and sort out. In the end I disconnected the button on the boot entirely and fitted an internal button instead that works much better.
