Bit slippy at the back

Had two new rear tyres fitted - good local place, always takes care. Except no tyre dealer I've ever been to has ever followed my instructions on pressure. Taking it easy on the way home the car felt awful (driving very normally due to new tyres/releasing compound). Get home, let the tyres cool down and what do I find? 34 PSI on the left and 32 PSI on the right.

I know, I should have taken my tyre pressure gauge with me...

I find the same. The fitters I use do the tyres for a TVR indies cars and are well used to the cars. Every time I state 26psi rear, they say yes no problem and even confirm it on leaving. I get home and usually have around 32-35 in them.

Cant recommend Cambridge Performance Tyres enough,always very professional/careful with the alloys and DO inflate to the pressures requested although they do always querry the apparantly low figure.
Have always found they are good at atleast getting close to the best price you give them from elsewhere.

Will they fit tyres supplied by the customer? some place's won't do it as they know how much they mark up the cost of tyres!!!!!

Funny thing about my telling the dealer to use 25 PSI was that the guy standing next to me had just be bked by a tyre fitter for running his MINI Cooper S tyres at 25 PSI "that may have messed up the tyres mate". The owner confessed to me later that he didn't know what the MINI recommended pressures were (RTFM!), but ran them at 25 PSI as the ride as too uncomfortable otherwise. I'm sure 25 PSI won't be that bad on a MINI, but its definitely below the recommended. He was annoyed as I said I had to run at 24-25 PSI :-) One main reason was that he was running runflats, I hated them on the Z4 I owned last year, they nearly ruined what was a lovely little car.

For some reason I'm unaware of he bought a spare tyre (not on a wheel) - it wouldn't be even fit in the boot without folding the seat a bit, crazy packaging by BMW.

They have always been happy to remove / fit any tyres or tyre and wheel combo I have taken to them.I tend to get bored with a wheel design so they are used to seeing me arrive with a set of wheels for the tyres on the car to be fitted to or for spare tyres to be fitted to a new set of wheels.At the end of the day a tyre service will charge you what they feel is the going rate for the work requested.

I use Adams & age in Cressex usually (not had to buy for the Tam yet), have you tried them?

No I haven't. I use Protyre in Slough (near B&Q wehouse), part of the Micheldever group and good prices. I've used Chiltern Tyres a few times but they suck through their teeth too much when you ask them to match others' prices, too much hassle - especially when they're making a packet.

What make/size of tyres did you have fitted? am currently running Eagle f1's at rear 245/40 18, was thinking of changing to 255/35 18, seem to be good deals to be had on the Falken fk452's at the moment

Standard - 235/40 x18. They work perfectly well for me, more friction will only slow me down.
