Dash lights

Hi Have a slight prob......
I have changed the batt because it was flat did this a good few weeks ago,but this week the batt is flat again,now is there a prob with they way i put the batt on is there a correct procedure ?
The lights on the dash seem to stay on even when I have locked the car any ideas ?

Disconnect the negative -ve first and re-connect last ALWAYS!. You run the risk of knackering the ECU if not. Not sure if the dash lights are on a relay or not this might be stuck which is why they don't turn off.

As an aside do you know why your battery is going flat so quick? When running what is the voltage? If it drops below 12.5-13v or so then you could have a problem on the charging circuit. Most probably the magic 100A inline fuse, but could be the alternator.

I think this must be a cold winter problem.
My Tamora has done exactly the same. I spoke to Richard at track V road who suggested either Alternator or main fuse.
I rectified it by putting the wiper switch to on after switching off ignition. Dash goes off.
I have since done nothing else but drive it a couple of times (which Richy suggested)and now all seems fine. It could be damp in electrics or even dry wires due to cold weather, who knows.

At least if you turn wiper switch up dash goes off and saves battery.
Mine is always connected to a battery conditioner but even then it never read full, again a cold problem I think. My garage has been colder than outside this winter.

Had similar problem the other week - pulled fuse 20, replaced, all well again.
Not happy that i do not know/understand the reason, but it has not recurred.
