Bit of fun - you've got 5k to spend upgrading your (Standard) Sagaris, what do you spend it on?

Usage is road and track (trackdays only, up to 6 a year).

My thoughts so far. Numbers are ballpark:

- Nitron Suspension ~1100
- New Rims
Works Emotion? (How much?!) http://www.actproducts.co.uk/shop/work-cr-rims-onl...
Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 (~£650)
- r888 Tyres & Geo setup (£700 / £300)
- Driver training sessions smile (300-500 depending on where and how many)

CR Box? Diff Change?

Leave it alone and buy a cheap track car?

3 things:
- Diff/gearbox change if needed
- Check std suspension is set up well
- Driver training

Save the rest for a 4.3 or 4.5 in a few years time.

Enquired at Act earlier this week and was informed that exchange rate now so bad that they will only get works rims in on order and that a set would be the wrong side of £2000 so that put that idea out of the window.

IF I was to track it

3.9 LSD paired with the CR box seems to be what many people think is a good match for the standard engine around £1500 for the LSD

R888 or R1R's

Lighter set of track day wheels probably in a darker colour to hide the brake dust.

Geometry check, I would leave the suspension until I’ve had it on track, I’m sure there is no real issues with it having been set up buy the guy that set up the noble m12? (How adjustable is the standard suspension)

Better brake pads if needed.

That may just leave me enough to get the vents cut out too

Had it on an airfield a little while back, was getting a lot of understeer out of the mid-speed corners (One in particular ~60mph, third gear, front just washing out), hence the suspension, wheel and geo changes.

I believe much like the S2 Elise the Sagaris was deliberately setup to understeer to reduce the chances of paying to fix the farmers hedgerow? If so can this be dialled out with straight geo-setup? Was thinking of nitrons based on my elise history - drove a well setup S2 on nitrons and was very different to my own standard s2. (granted it was running stickier rubber too).

Don / Targa - you think the standard Bilstiens are good enough?

For those that have had it done - what's the main difference you notice from the diff change?

Totally agree that it would be set up to under steer to save the hedgerow. I’m sure I have heard MARK UB and TVR OWNER talking about a slight suspension adjustment to remove the factory under steer and make it more neutral.

Regarding the Diff it depends what your car has in terms of BOX + Diff combo. I think the least favoured combo is the 3.4 diff and CR box because the CR box increases the ratio in the first few gears, so pairing this with a widely geared diff makes the first two gears extremely long making the car feel lazy and not wanting to push on. Many people changed this for a 3.7 or 3.9 LSD which makes the car feel like it wants to play all the time. I’m sure you will bring up many topics on it in the search function.

The promotional cars tested for performance and reviews all had a 3.7 and CR box I think. (It would be nice to compare a 0-100mph with a CR + 3.4 vs a CR + 3.7.

I've just had the 3:91 and C/R box installed on what was a standard 3:46. Still running it in but my my, what a difference (forgive the pun). Never ending 1st and 2nd gear drive. Far better suited to the engine. Smoother torque, spread far more evenly throughout the rev range. Forget the loss of top end (which you would never use anyhow), the gains in 0-100 are a mindblowing improvement from standard. This is undoubtedly the best money vs. performance upgrade you could invest in.

I'd also add, that if you are thinking of an engine upgrade, then it is rumoured the 3.91 diff is too much for the extra power, and you'd be better with the 3.7.... Anyone confirm this? Graham?

Too much is probably the wrong way to put it. The bigger capacity motor has wads more torque and doesn't need the revs to create as much forward progress like the std capacity engines.

Could e the case. I have a 3.7 in mine but am about to upgrade the engine (ngine is ot at the moment) and I think I will need t go back to a 3.5.

Also got some Nitrons going in.

Not driven my 4.3 with the 3.7:1 diff & CR box set up just yet.
but undestand that it should be optimum, as Targarama stated.

Sags in bits for winter maybe summer too at the rate I am going!
(Paul,- 82 hours spent so far)

Paul, I guess the LS9? project is under way then?

I'm sure the 3.7 will be plenty you dont want to be wheelspining past 100mph
wobble

If you need any spare hands Graham just drop us a line. I’m looking forward to seeing it sparkling away at Chatsworth

So the 4.5 S6 would be best with a 3.4 diff and the C/R box?

82 hours - LOL

LS3 was not enough and LS9 was bit too much but the S6 has now been serviced, sealed and then moff balled. New install should not be too long.

- i'd like a carbon fibre airbox from act.
- also would like a chromed cam cover.
- training days definitely
- a proper machine buffed detailing session to bring the paint prime again
- head light re-cover (to stop misting) - not sure if Sags suffer from this like the '350s.
- HID Upgrade
- as others have said diff/gearbox
- possibly speaker upgrade, but not sold on this as never use stereo.
