Just wondering how many have gone this route? and if you miss the 3.6 characteristics? I prefer the 3.6 to the 4.O so does the extra CC make up what the 4.0 lacks?

I find the 4.0L more torquey than the 3.6L and not much difference in the acceleration ?

So, what does the 4.0L lack then ? rolleyes

As TVRWazzock says I find the extra torque of the 4.0litre makes for an easier drive when not in hoon mode but that it seems to rev as well as the 3.6 when you do want it to.
Can only assume that the 4.3 or even the 4.5 that Dom at Power is currently trialing in his Sag would only make this better.Definately havent read any negative comments about the larger capacity speed sixes on any of the forums.
Just need to come into some money and perhaps then I can find out.
All IMHO of course.

The difference for me is the 4.0L is Lazy, it doesn't "spin up" as quick when over 4K revs and doesn't rev as high due to the stroke length, the 3.6 "Screams" into life smile It depends what you like I suppose. Size doesn't always matter smile

I'm not saying one is better than the other but they have different characteristics and I just prefer the 3.6's to the 4.0, the extra torque is nice but it isn't that much of a gain.
I've booked in for the 4.5 upgrade but I'm hoping it will still keep some of things I like about the 3.6. waiting to see the power/torque curves to get an dea.

If the stroke length/ stroke ratio directly affects how free/high an engine will rev and you prefer that characteristic to a low down torque engine then if you bore the head of a 4ltr car out to a 4.5ltr TVR POWER spec but keep a 4.0ltr crank in it instead of the 4.3litre TVR POWER stroked crank.

Would you then end up with a 4.2ltr high revving straight six with a stroke ratio similar to a 3.6ltr and thus similar engine characteristics but with nearly as much peak BHP as the TVR POWER 4.3ltr? I know nothing of engine tuning but am just curious if this would give the desired characteristics you prefer.

Yes it would smile I think it has been done. I'm drawn to the 4.5 as the extra CC with the same stroke as 4.3 will be very interesting and it comes with a lightened flywheel.

Cool I have not seen a 4.2ltr S6 i'll see if I can find one. You'll have to let us know how it goes, i'm sure you will be very impressed
