Tamora : Cigar lighter

Went to plug in my new adaptor to trickle charge the battery, and there ain't one. Just a hole. Will have to be the Anderson connector. Anyone suggestions as to why there is just a hole. Sensible ones and stupid ones welcome. I don't really care at this point. Grr.

Probably been pushed through (though you've likely realised this already) as the lighter unit isn't exactly well secured.

Yeah you're probably right, though it must have fallen a wee way down as I couldn't feel anything. Ah well. Another job to do. Had a nice little blat around Abbotsley at tea time which charged it up.

My Tamora has no cigar lighter as well - apparently it was a factory fitted option.

I found that there was a 2 pin connector that was already wired to the battery lying around behind the battery cover in the passengers footwell. I connected up an in-line cigar lighter socket to this through a fuse and routed it up to the little shelf below the radio. I can now connect my Optimate in the garage and sat nav when on the road.

Thanks Nick. That's what I was curious about as I couldn't find a trace of it. Nice shine on that car.

Mine didn't have one either, but I retro-fitted the proper part - it's made by Valeo, part number 7394 / 12v. On the inside of the centre console there's a plate (a big washer) to stop it falling through. You'd then need to make up a section of wiring.

I was lucky because TVR was still building cars, and some kind chap at the factory made me up a section with the right connectors FOC. I remember him saying they didn't have a standard piece of loom but he knew who built my car, so knew which loom it had. Such a shame the factory and all that history is gone.
