Hispec Brakes fitted to the 350, at last ready for some fun!

The final piece of jigsaw that is my 'project' T350 finally saw the light of day last week courtesy of Ian at Torque TVR. Kit consists of Hispec Monster 6 calipers and 360mm front disks and matching rears. After intial bedding in, the brakes are certainly up to the job, given the AP's aren't exactly weak!
Giving more feel at the pedal they grip like a ba*t*rd at high speed but low speed tend to snatch a bit. Greasy roads and cold tyres could well be the issue this time of year, but have high hopes with the sun out.
Just as important are they also look the part IMHO. The front was a simple bolt on job but the rears needed the uprights from a Tuscan 2 (how much!?!?!) to allow the caliper to mounted to fit the larger rears.
Cheers to Shaun for selling the kit to me in first place from his Sag project and Ian for his hard work and putting out the fire in my airbox on picking the car up! Never a scarier moment I can tell you after so much work has gone into the car over the past few months.
Will be a tight fit for the orignal spiders, as the rims fitted are Power 19", but have kept them for track day fun and sticky tyres.

Do the 18 inch spiders really fit over those calipers? Even the Sagaris spec front brakes on mine are a tightish fit!
Fire in airbox - was this too much oil being blown back due to overfilling the oil tank? After my top end rebuild I was out for a drive while running in, turned up a hill, accelerated and a massive cloud of smoke came out the back. Scared the cluck out of me, the car was warm and the revs/throttle was not 'harsh'. Turned out it was overfilled and blowing back into the airbox, then got sucked through the engine and out the back. It only did it once luckily.

The rear upright cost is the reason many folk don't have the full red rose brake conversion done - choosing only to do the front and in doing so ever so slightly upsetting the balance of the braking.Cheers Trev, it seems the coil pack had been fitted upside down at some point and Ian had fitted a new Cam cover for me, tarty Power black resin jobie, and fitted the leads as he would expect them to go if it were the right way up. This cause somewhat lumpy running as you would expect, resulting in the odd healthy missfire. The downside to this was the air filter had not been changed for some time and was dry as a bone and the unburnt fuel ignited briefly, causing a plume of smoke from the airbox.
One well smouldering airfilter later and copius amounts of water keeping the airbox lid cool and all was well once the lid was off. As Ian states, the flter should be soaked in oil prior to fitting to not only catch more of the airborne issues but also stop the damn thing going up in flames.
Runs 100% now the leads are both new and in the right order.

No noise issues at all, only downside is slight vibration through the steering at 80 ish that wasn't there before, but goes over 90. Not really an issue to be honest and may well be more about wheel balance.
Will try the original spiders to check clearance but I believe they were fitted on a car with 18's before selling on to me.
I had the original 290 ish disks on the car before these and have to say they were lacking as I had the larger Sag ones on my previous 350. Now, matched with the larger rear, they do overwhelm the tyres a little, but as I said, the conditions aren't exactly 'sticky tyres' right now.

Peter - Off topic but I remember seeing your car at Chatsworth and in particular your stereo install. Do you happen to have to hand any further details/pics of what you've had done and by who? It's the one big disappointment in my car and I'd love to have something half decent in there.

Paul, its not just a Tuscan rear upright, it must be off a Tuscan S. The caliper loaction point is different. The Sagaris upright at the rear looksthe same, but different pick-up points tells me it me not be the same. Nice to see you and the motor at Zolder. Good luck with the further development.
Hi, I parked next to you in Tesco Uttoxeter, think it was last week, and I have to say that your car looked fantastic! The wheels looked great and the car was getting a great deal of positive attention from other drivers. Sadly, I was in my partner's Ka and not my T350C. Where did your mirrors come from, as they are different than the ones on my car?

The rear upright is indeed the same as the Sagaris and came from a Tuscan S due to the lack of good Sagaris bits. Was needed due the disc kit being originally for a Sagaris project that didn't see the light of day.
The car was in Tesco car park, cheers for the positive comments, and the mirrors are one of specials done by SP automotive who did all the other detail. They were modelled on a prototype fitted to a car from the factory but sadly never made production. They are the orignal mirrors, just Ryan worked his glass fibre magic and they look very nice and orignal looking.
On the speaker box mod, most of the work was done via my DIY skills. The box was fabicated from MDF and made a blank from carboard first to get the contours of the 'boot' floor between the rear arches right to make a snug fit. My car had the optional boot cover and used this housing, with the cover removed, to attach the top of the box to in an effort to make it a standard looking as possible. Wasn't looking for the 'Nova back shelf' look.
The next job was cutting the holes for the infinity 9 x 7's and the Kenwood powered sub in the middle, fiddly but worth the time taken. Just happened to be planning a retrim so gave my creation to KRJ to match the existing carpet. The cabling runs down the centre console and over all does a good job of putting a good level of sound and deep bass. Have to say it will never sound as good as the lump up front!
Sadly the cars in bits right now getting the disks skimmed due to a slight run out on one and front Nitrons re sprung and serviced. Changing ball joints, wishbone bushes etc due to minor play in various areas and will have all the geo set again while I'm at it. Should be back out playing very soon.
