New battery time

Prevention rather than cure I am going to change the battery on the T350 (it's the original on a 2004 car).

What is the best battery!, make and model to fit and is there a procedure to prevent any nasties happening after cutting the electrical supply

It's not a difficult job but a bit fiddly. Obviously you need to remove the near side front wheel to get to the battery box. Then it's just a case of removing a couple of screws and probably a tie-wrap to remove the cover.

Then remove the cables from the terminals, +ve first (after making sure that you've opened doors / the boot / whatever else you might want to access while the power's off).

Before you try to move the battery you will need to release at least one of the 2 securing clamps. On mine they were bolted through the chassis with the nuts welded to the clamps (spent a few seconds trying to loosen them from the top first!) - IIRC a 14mm socket is required...

Getting the battery out is quite tricky as you'll have to maneouver it around the front hub / brake caliper / lower wishbone to get it out.

The battery is a 069 round post battery. Mine's a bog-standard diesel-rated one, nothing special - I guess buy on price and guarantee rather than any specific brand, but that's just me.

When replacing the battery take special care to replace the foam padding between the +ve side and top of the battery and the chassis to prevent any accidental contact / sparking leading to a potential fire risk.

Replacement is a direct reversal of the above proceedure - make sure you have a couple of good-size tie-wraps to hand to finish off the bottom of the battery hatch and you're good to go...

Worth just checking the cabling / anderson socket carefully whilst you're in their just in case of damage...

It's not a big deal - if you've got everything to hand it's probably less than 30 minutes - even if you take your time.

I quite liked the gulf orange stripeyness you had once. Silent exhaust? Yeah right.

I replaced my battery a while back as a precaution. I strongly recommend checking all the cables for chafing and wrapping/re-routing to prevent future problems (such as fire as per several T cars in recent years). If you liked that Tref you will like the 2010 livery. With regards to the exhaust that had to go as I was getting red carded all the time,I have put the original back box back on.
