Windscreen help...

What a glorious day!!

Back from a lovely drive the only down side being a small chip in the screen that whilst having lunch grew into a rather large crack

Will call insurance Monday re usual £50 excess cover but wondered if Tamora screens are hard to get and whether it is a specialist thing being the few numbers of Tam's produced....

Any help appreciated as always.

I used Autoglasss a couple of years ago and they couldn't find one, from a post on here I was told to try David Gerald and thats who they got it from in the end. If it was me I would try and get it repaired first rather than a having the hassle of changing the screen.

Thanks for the tip, repair is out the question unfortunately as the chip has grown into a sizable crack right in my line of sight.

Make sure you get someone that knows what they are doing to replace it, preferbly someone that has worked on TVR before otherwise it could end up a complete mess.

Yeah that was my worry...will call insurance tomorrow and see what they say.

A few phone calls later to some of the specialist garages Autoglass have been known to do a good job on TVR's...they have also messed a few up.

Has anyone used them on here?

I used Autoglass on my Chimaera with no problems. They had the car in their worlshop for the day for the best guy to work on it. I guess it depends on the fitter (person not company).

Cool they said the same, that they would want the car in the workshop rather than the mobile fitter.

I had mine done in the workshop too, the guy had done a Cerbera before and he was working on a bentley when I dropped mine off so that made me happy, the guy done a top job

Mine was High Wycombe. Doesn't mean the fitter is there any more though.

If you're unsure then get a dealer/indie to recommend someone/somewhere. My dealer scratched the screen on my T350 when it was in for some snag fixes at around 1,000 miles. They replaced it, they told me they had a standard company come in (the usual auto-whatever), but the local office knew the dealer and to send someone who was experienced.

I used Chelmsford branch, there is another post here that Del started when he needed a screen for his Griff, he used Basildon branch but it maybe worth speaking to Glassman to see if he knows anyone local to you that can do it.

Cheers for the thread info and the branches used....the local branch to me is also High Wycombe so will see what they say as a start.

When mine was in at str8six I was asking about who best to entrust with the job. The high wycombe branch of Autoglass was mentioned to me too.

Looks like Wycombe is the place to go, they have an "in-house" fitter that works on Bentleys, TVR's etc and they have been very good on the phone so will let you know, she's booked inf or next Friday.
