Tamora Tyres

Just bought a Tamora with SP12's and have some Mich PS2's fitted 255/35R18's & 225/40R18's car feels a bit skittish so am planning on changing tyres to Toyo R1R's (265/35R18's & 225/40R18's) hopefully will get a bit more feedback with these?
The car feels a bit inert at the moment, not sure if this is due to the power steering?
Will get a full geomo setup at Track-V-Road when i have new tyres fitted, hopefully this will improve the feel of the car which i would expect to be excellent as it has Nitrons fitted?

Why not put the correct size tyres on it?

I know that the SP12's reccomend 265/35R18's & 235/40R18's but Toyo only do 225/40R18's hence i'll get the geomo set up for the tyres!
As for the PS2's is there an issue with 255/35R18's & 225/40R18's ???

Don't know if there are issues as such, I just didn't understand why somone would want such wide rubber on the back of the car when the arches don't allow it?

The ride height must be set quite high to allow clearance then.

If Silverstone performance sold the owner 9" rims as they recommend for the Tamora and T350 (which I don't, 8.5" are optimum with 235mm width tyres for the rear) you can only go to 255mm or you will get the tyres rubbing on the arches unless you drive like Miss Daisy. 265mm will be over stretched and look horrid. Even with 255mm you will require better dampers and higher spring rates to stop tyre rub.

I recently had 235 Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics fitted and they are superb in wet and dry! You can get a good deal at Micheldever tyres or tyretraders.com
I agree that 235's are the optimum width for the standard 18" alloys.
