Hi every1,

Im having problems starting my sag! It was on a trailer last night for about 9 hours and I think the alarm was triggered somehow even though I didnt lock the car but when it arrived home I realised the alarm must have been going off for ages. So suffice to say I wasnt surprised when it didnt start- I just got some jump leads and voila that was that-

This evening I tried to unlock it to get into it to take it for a run and its dead! The doors dont even unlock so I tried the jump leads again (with several different cars) and it got some power and I managed to unlock it! I got in and it doesnt start no matter how much I try to jump start it.

My thoughts turned to the immobiliser as a possible cause for the problem but I dont know if it is that. Maybe its been tripped somehow? I go through the normal starting procedure but no luck!

Any ideas would be very gratefully recieved!

thanks

the car does it little check and the speedo needles move as if its going to start and then I press the immobiliser and turn the key (as normal) and there is no turning of the engine at all.

I take it if the speedo does it little movement thing then it can still be the fuse?

turn on ignition then put the lights on full beam and if they dim its likley the 100amp fuse has blown.

Hi,

tried the lights on full beam and they dont dim. any other ideas?

The light where the immobiliser fob goes in is on constantly. does this have anything to do with it?
tbh have never paid any attention to the light!

thanks for your thoughts so far- any other ideas?

Yep, he's right. Your immobiliser needs resetting. There's a fuse you can remove and replace to do this. Check the fuse layout in the manual.

I have had this twice when the battery becomes completely flat and after you recharge it the immobiliser refuses to release. Both times I was towed to the dealers who put it on a 100amp rapid charger for a few minutes and it started without resetting the immobiliser.

Ok so Ive got it running again!
Answer=immobiliser
Thankyou Mr Varley for your expertise and emails on how to get to and reset the immobiliser. After I did that, the battery was charged (took about 15mins) and then started (and no doubt woke the neighbours!) and the rest of the southside of glasgow while I drove around charging the battery!

Thankyou every1 for your help, enjy, sportie, Mr Varley and Don1- Its great to have such a helpful bunch of folk around- was thinking it would have to be towed 50 miles to the TVR garage....

cheers

Is it worth having a spare 100 amp fuse for such times? Where's the best place to source 1 and how much we talking? -what does every1 else use to charge up a battery? I've read what Graham uses on his page- but havnt looked into prices etc-has any1?may be a worthwhile investment!

immobiliser has it's own battery so hangs up sometimes when main battery dies.
Just remove & replace fuse 29 to reset.

Mine went couple of months ago, if I had a spare in the car, Mr RAC could have resolved there and then. But I didn't! They can be bought from most TVR spares web sites (Racing Green for example), they are only a couple of quid each, probably worth buying a couple.

You might want to get a new battery when you next get the car serviced.....whenever I get a new TVR, I always get a new battery....belt and braces being my motto....

Cheers

I keep mine charged up using an Accumate. If I don't use it for more than a couple of days, I plug in and switch on. Peace of mind and I bought it for £40/50 when I purchased the car.

100 AMP fuse - is it a standard blade fuse that you can buy from Halfords (£2) or does it require a purchase from a TVR dealer?
