Well, after 3 years of almost faultless Westfield ownership, I've now given way to the bank balance and a life long desire and hankering for a TVR ! The new Tamora is due next Saturday and I can't sleep at night, is this normal ??
The beast in question is an 02 car and I've bought it from those amazingly helpful people at Racing Green TVR. Has anyone got any useful advice on how I treat the new baby and how I look after her, apart from sleeping in the garage with her of course?!
I guess I should change my profile name now too !

Therer is nothing special needed to look after these cars. Just treat it gently until fully warmed through (lots of threads on this). Keep an eye on tyre pressures as it can be hard to spot them dropping with such low profile tyres (24psi btw). Don't let the fuel get too low as the gauge reading on some cars can be a little unpredictable (you'll soon work out how reliable your own gauge is).

Cheers Targa. The guys at RG have been great so far and I'm sure there will be a lot more info departed on Saturday when I collect it. They already told me about the warming up, though have been reading the forum for a couple of months now so have read varying things on this. RG are saying not to go over 2,500 until it reaches 60 degrees, others on the forum say 3000, etc etc.

Car already had Nitrons but felt a bit odd so took them off to check and one was in need of some attention so have shipped them all off back to Nitron for service and am upgrading to Eibachs. Also changing tyres to Toyo R1R's (more reports on that later when i have put shox's & wheels back on).
Barry Ashcroft has also made the same move and lives a bit closer to you near Bristol.

Have some good answers ready for why you have a stupid grin on your face.
4 weeks into Tam ownership and just loving it. Main thing that caught me out was tyre pressures. The manual says 28psi, which made the car feel like it was going to take off at anything over 60mph. Now at 24 all round and it feels fantastic.

Ah, no Mr. M, though I did see that one, very nice. This was one that they'd just had in, blue, not sure of colour name, it escapes me. But they'd looked after it since 2006 and it's had the same owner for the last 6 years. It did get onto PH for a few days, but I'd bought it pretty much from as soon as they'd had it in, over the last bank holiday weekend, so it was taken off. Think it might still be on their own website as sold though........

It came with 16" spiders, so I changed these to 18" spiders and have Toyo's fitted. I've stuck with Toyo's ever since and the grip is excellent. I changed the standard exhaust system to a JP Sports Exhaust system, and what a difference in sound to the standard exhaust. In 2007 I had the engine stripped/rebuilt with upgraded parts, and upgraded from 3.6L to 4.0L Red Rose spec, and as a bonus had Nitons with Eibach springs, Alloy Radiator, and ACT Air Box fitted.
All this work was done by Richard and his team at Dulfords in cullompton. Great bunch of guys there.
I recently did a track day at Llandow near Cardiff which was organised by Dulfords. It rained all day but the Tamora came to life on the track, and the Toyo's with the Nitrons made the handling so much better from the standard setup. I was able to adjust the nitrons on the day for the track and noticed the difference in handling.
As for reliability, there has been a few niggles, the power steering rack has had to be reconditioned twice, a door ECU has had to be reconditioned, the ECU display had to be changed as there were missing lines, and the accelerator cable snapped last year.
But the shear excitement and enjoyment you get out of a TVR out weighs the reliability niggles
P.S. Forgot to mention the clutch, my clutch went in 2006 and the car had done 18000 miles. Had a new slave cylinder and clutch fitted. Final bill came to approx £1500.

Wazzock, the car sounds awesome mate, I'm jealous already and mine's not arrived yet ! I guess it'll be a case of see how she runs, get rid of the obviously annoying little niggles that she'll come with, then maybe start loooking at something like a JP system first. I've heard them mentioned as being the best for grunt on Tam's so reckon that could be the one to go for ! Any idea how much I'd be paying for such rumbly delights ?? :-)
RG are currently replacing the steering rack, and sorting the front splitter as it's been grounded somewhere. Other than that, just a few little bits that they were doing anyway in order to hand it over in top notch condition.
I've a bit of a small budget set aside for anything obvious and it comes with their warranty so hopefully will be OK if anything major breaks or goes wrong !

nothing yet Badger, only the ones that were used to advertise it on PH and their own website. Though for sure there will be hundreds by the end of this weekend ! This was one taken outside the RG back door ...................!
The wheels are just slaves as mine are being sent off to be refurbed and painted in a slightly darker colour. Not as dark as anthracite, lighter but the colour escapes me now !

Westie - I have spotted your first mod. TVR wheel centrecaps are just a couple of quid from one of the main suppliers (or get RG to put them on for you as a deal sweetner). I can never understand why people go around with those yellow centrecaps - looks like the stickers have fallen off.
