Sag tickover / stalling issue

Taken the Sag out for a couple of runs in the lovely weather this week, but have unfortunately had the same problem on both occasions...

When sitting at lights, particularly when it is warming up, the car feels like it is going to stall all the time. I can hear the engine really struggling, and I am having to give the car some revs (only a tiny but constant touch on the accelerator) to keep it from stalling.

My gut feel is that whatever the mechanism / control is that sets tickover revs is set too low. Is that a fair assumption / diagnosis? And does anyone know the procedure to fix it?

How long since its last service? The idle is something that should be set correctly (about 900rpm when warm) as part of a normal annual service.

Since STR8-SIX did mine it starts without having to touch the gas and idles perfectly even from cold. If you want to hve a go yourself try here, but as Graham says "This is not a fix for a lack of a service. It is just an interim measure..." http://www.varleyhyd.com/FJ062.asp#Engine%20idle

I agree with above though the throttles do go out of balance quite easily and can need doing agin mid service. Mine is currently idling about 5-600 rpm but is heading in ofr a service next week.

Did you have the aircon on as well by any chance? The compressor seems to take 100rpm or so off at tickover and can make the car feel like it's going to stall.
