sag power steering

I had similar problem. It was simply the relay that went on mine last year. It maybe that on yours, easy to replace.

cheers guys for pointing me in the right direction! il get a look at her at weekend. well hoping its just the relay as restarting the car seems to reset it most of the time.

Hi Shaun got car back, was the dif bearings all ok now + had de cats fitted got them of Paul Black guy who has the 7 Ltr sag, hope to catch up again one day

Hiya Paul,

Good news with diff, it had only done 3K miles & 2K+ miles was running the engine in.

You have had the cats put back in?

There was a spare relay for the power steering that was with all the stuff I gave you! the one in now was new last June.

Yeah, I'm certain we'll catch up soon, I'm meeting Dom at Cadwell Park on Tuesday to have a look & go in his 4.5 creation, plus the Sagaris with the LS looks like a savage alternative. Are you there?

How much fluid is in the power steering system?

Mine seems to be fine on start up and for about 20 mins. The steering then starts to stiffen up. On removal of the service bonnet the cap is very oily, as if it's leaking up through the cap. I've topped it up but it only helps for a while. No signs of a major leak.

Any advice much appreciated

I've had 3 or 4 relays fail intermittently on me...The Citreon (Cartier) 45 amp one is rubbish in my opinion...the contacts get pitted...I changed to a 75 amp sealed one and now have had the wiring replaced and the relay moved to passenger footwell....(on a Tuscan Convertible but is the same as a Sag)

level is at max.

took relay out and gave clean, has been ok today on a drive with many stops. hoping it was maybe some water just in the connections.
also tie wrapped away from oil reciever, seem to be hanging half and inch from it and lose. maybe heat effecting.
i see tvr power sell them so will prob just order new one incase.

The contacts I refer to are internal, operated upon by the solenoid being switched on low voltage, to make high voltage circuit.
