Power steering issues

Hi, wondering if anyone can help; my poet steering is going on and off very intermittently. At first I thought the fluid was a bit low, so I topped it up, and that helped for a short while.

The fuse is fine, could it be the relay? What symptoms would I get if the relay was failing?

I'm quite eager to sort this out as I want to take advantage of this amazing weather!!

First question, how is the fluid level now? is it the same as when you topped it up?

I'd change the fuse and holder in the battery bay (NS front wheel arch).

Fluid levels seem to be all over the place. I'll check the levels and they'll be low, then after top up it seems to eject it all through the top of the filler cap and it'll be low again.

Inside of the relay seems clean, although I will replace it any way and I've replaced the fuse. The steering can just kick in at points which makes me suspect the relay.......

Replaced the relay, topped up the fluid. Steering worked for about ten minutes then shed altho fluid again. Back to the drawing board

Is it coming out of the rack or somewhere else? Kiley Clinton if it's the rack.

If the steering does not stiffen at anytime I doubt it is electrical.

The fluid level should not alter much as it should be constantly recirculating.

If the level does go down, is it possible it is filling the gaiter on the steering rack on the drivers side then going onto the ground?

Is so the rack is leaking.

If not, It's as though the return fluid that comes back through the black hose to the front of the car maybe obstructed stopping the fluid return untill pressure builds up then it throws it back to the reservoir & overflows?

Without the ignition on you can apply a live feed to the green wire in the battery box to run the pump to see what's happening.

Sounds like an obstruction then as it's all coming through the overflow. Due for a service next week will have the guys a castle look it over
