Exactly - so then is it better to leave her in the garage and take her out for the longer trips, so wont get used as much but at least she will get a chance to get properly warmed up.
Used for shorter trips - Regualar use but not long enough to properly warm the engine up.

I had to use metal putty to get a flat surface for the heater to stick too due to the ridges in the sump.
However, Speed 6 engines are dry sumped are they not?? So I guess you would have to put the heater pad on the oil can??
Mine cost about £100 including the metal putty. It means the oil temperature gets up to where it needs to be about 3 times quicker than normal. The engine is also noticeably quieter on start up.
This seems like a good idea, however i am not lucky enough to have a garage with a power outlet 
I have one of those rented garages. Looking to move out in a few months so will try and find somewhere with a decent garage.

Its only a car so if you need to use it for shorter trips then go ahead. Some people think they will fall to bits as a result. Yes you get a smidge more wear on a cold car/engine, but that is no different to any other car. You won't be able to use the revs if the engine/oil is not hot so each short trip will just be a burble rather than a thrash.
I have other cars which get used for local work. For instance I'm about to drive 2 miles into High Wycombe, going to pick some bits up, get some groceries on the way back. Now it is perfect weather for the TVR, but I will take the Panda - horses for courses the Panda is perfect for local work.
Generally my TVR(s) have been used once every week or two in the summer, but then they tend to get a lot of miles during that use (such as driving to Switzerland or Wales). I use it much less in the winter, but make sure when I do use it that I warm it especially carefully.
