Phone/nav mounting

Is there a good solution for mounting a phone/sat nav in the car?

I'm loathed to use an ugly windscreen sucker mount

Not that I know of but I'm sure something could be adapted. I attach the sat nav to the windscreen on the right of the steering wheel, which keeps it out of the way (and stops it jiggling about too much).

Garmin do a couple of options. One is a disc which can be stuck (it has double-sided tape) to the dash and then the sucker mount can be attached to it. The other is a lead shot filled flat "bag" with that super-sticky type rubber that just sits on the dash with a fitting attached to it. This works very well although on my old Tamora which was trimmed in Bison rather than leather it could move under hard 2nd gear acceleration but is ok on my leather trimmed T350.

I have a TomTom and use the standard mount, but don't attach it to the screen. Instead I slide the sucker mount into the 'crease' in the dash in the centre of the car, just above the head unit. Seems to stay there.

I had a Kenwood NVD56G6 unit fitted and it seems to work really well. Just had a good hoon down to Le Mans and back with very good guidance to various off piste locations for lunch etc.

Only thing you have to watch is that the gear lever needs to be pulled back into 2nd or 4th when the screen is opening or closing.

The display works really well even in the brilliant sunshine we have had all weekend.

Just bought an iPhone mount at the weekend from the Apple Store. Fits into the cig lighter socket with a bendable arm, seems to work fine at the moment, and easily removed when not needed.

I have a brushed alloy dash (Chimaera), my TomTom sticks just to the left of the speedo, below oil pressure without obscuring anything, not sure if this may work in other TVR's. Depending on your seating position and steering wheel setup you will not be able to see the whole thing, but a slight sway of the head brings it all into view. A decent solution if you're not needing to constantly watch it.
