Warranty question..

Morning.

I seem to have developed an oil drip from the tray under the front of the engine, it's only a couple but has me concerned.

She is always warmed up extremely sympathetically and only has 12k on the clock so am sure it's nothing to worry about.

My question is that I have just under 2 months left on my warranty, should getting this checked out be covered or is it normal wear and tear and part of TVR ownership - the occasional drip of oil...?

Same applies for the alternator belt screeching on start up, warranty or wear and tear?

Most warranties only cover the breakdown and failure of a specific part, whether or not it's a "wear & tear" cover. I agree with the last post, get the leak checked out first. A good repairer will determine whether there is a fault that may be covered by the warranty. I'd bank on it not being covered, but it depends on the provider. The AA cover may not even question a claim and pay upto £500 (less £50 per claim excess) toward your costs. AutoProtect will not honour a claim unless it's a physical "breakdown". Good luck, I hope it's not serious.

It may be a minor seep from a seal which won't hurt, or it may be an indication of a major failure. Get it checked, no car should leak/drip oil. Only your garage will be able to tell you whether the leak/repair is covered by warranty.

Taking her up to see the boys at Str8six on Saturday morning and not driving her till then, better to be safe.

Once I know what it is I'll know whether its covered or not by the warranty.

If nothing else it's a good excuse to meet Jason etc.

Just had all 3 of my oil hoses replaced - they had perished. I was getting small (5 pence piece sized) drops near the front passenger wheel.

Cost about £300 so definitely a warranty job if you can get it.

Edited to add - that price was for all 3 pipes.

I ignored a small leak for a while as I had the service booked in. Diff, engine and steering all leaking, car is spending the summer in the workshop

Happy to say it's nothing major just an oil seal weeping and she's booked in to get it sorted in a couple of weeks.

Really impressed with the friendliness/professionalism of Jason and his team.
