Anyone changed from a Sag to a Tam?

Whilst still loving the Sag after 3 years of good use i've a feeling for a little open air motoring. I've little interest outside of the TVR range so a Tam would seem the way to go.

The feeling may pass and i'll be very happy to keep the Sag but getting the idea it may be an itch that needs dealing with!

I know the feeling I've had my Sag for two and a half years and all this sunny weather has got me looking at Tuscan 2 convertibles. However the sun will soon be gone and if it's an either or choice between a Tam and the Sag you know yourself that you already have the best one

The only car (ok something exotic maybee) that I would Swop my Tamora for would be a Sag but then I know I would miss the open top experience

you might be able to convince me with some readies + your car smile

well you can't blame me for trying I have always had an itch to scratch with the Sag

but the low splitter would argue too much with the granite sets over here whereas I use the tam every day factor 50 on of course

Toobin currently residing in Hong Kong I believe has had both as have one or two others on here

It was worth a go Nick but if the itch was that bad i'd go to the doctors!

Not too worried about the sunshine driving part, see that as an added bonus with our weather, last time i had a drop top if it wasn't raining (too heavy) the roof would be down.

The idea of a Tam as well is just greedy (but a bloody good one), i've just moved in with the missis on the agreement i build a garage for the Sag but sadly only had space for a single!

I went the other way (Tam to Sag).

If I'm honest, as great as the sag is, its not massivly better or different to drive than the Tam. Sure - it handles better, is slightly quicker and is far better looking but the driving experience and the smile it puts on your face is not much different.

Like you, I miss open top motoring and in my humble opinion, thats where the sag fails.

If TVR ever made a sag convertible, not that'd be one car I must have...

It would surely be better the other way round; Sag with Tamesque soft top.

There is also the Tuscan Sag now.

I think every TVR has its up and downs, and who owns what will sing praises.

Was the Sag the only TVR never made into a convertible? Would it look good as a convertible?

I have a Sag and Im looking at a Tuscan 2 or Tamora for my home in France, though the Sag did get some looks and pics taken the last time I had her down there

Had two Sags in the family and one Tamora. Still have the Tamora but wished I'd kept my first Sag.

Quite different cars but close to each other in feel, far closer than say a T350 and a Sag. The loss of torque going from a 4,0 engine to a 3,6 (if its a fairly standard Tam) will take a little to get used too, but the 3,6 is a wild howler of a motor and has it's own special traits.

Both benefit from tweaking the standard settings.

Apart from the obvious that the Tam is a convertible what did you feel the main differences were John?

Thanks Lee, had some problems with the race car gearbox this year that I hope are resolved, Mallory 18th July will tell...Tamora was fun at Zolder smoked everything on the sprint, including the bigger 4.3 engined cars on soft rubber. biggrin

Iain, I think the main difference is the lack of the cage in the Tamora which seems, and I'm sure it wasnt by design, to make the car a little more compliant. The T350 standard set-up feels harsh, something you won't feel in a standard Tamora.

Cheque book out, Nitrons and Eibachs fitted - fairly sure (but I dont know) T350 would feel much better than standard..

That's good to hear - a testament to a good TVR factory original engine.

I suspect your driving God status may have helped too thumbup
